I love the description of using your 3rd hand to mix the last channel, I’m laughing out loud over here.
I would like to add a description of my workflow quickly just so it is on record. I have a background audio feed from cameras to capture ambient event audio. When my announcers / commentators go live I would like the ability to bring that audio feed down slowly to a predetermined level. So I have 3 buttons programmed as follows (audio High, audio Low, audio Off). A smooth slow ramp between these would be great rather than manually adjusting my fade sliders.

I'm in the same boat as KeithM.
For live sports production, when you play highlights of previous events or other games, throw detailed graphics on the screen, cut between prerecorded video packages and live content, usually there will be music in the background. Now, I know that audio fades with the vision, but a half second fade in audio is almost as abrupt as a straight cut. And a 5 second video fade in wouldn't look too crash hot.
Especially for live sport, not everything is scripted to the second, which rules out prerecorded audio with fades added destructively to the file. Having full control over when audio can fade in and out over a certain duration, independent of what is being shown on screen, is vital to having a more seamless live production.
We appreciate all the work you guys do, and hope that the use cases presented here help paint the picture of how useful this feature would be to the community.
Kind Regards,
Michael Smith

We would mostly use it for changing level of music via a shortcut. We currently do not have a control surface with fader or pot controls, so to fade up or down music we have to use the on screen controls. I have tried mapping a +=1 and -=1 for input volume, but it is a bit cumbersome to repeatedly tap a button to smoothly fade up/down. Using a shortcut to smoothly change volume from one value to another could make things much easier.
If this is already possible, please ignore this scenario.
Many Thanks

How about a new SetVolumeFade shortcut with a changeable value of targetvolume, milliseconds? So setting it to 100,1000 would move the fader up towards 100% taking 1 second to get there.

That would be great. I have played with triggers to fade but since my audio isn’t tied to an input transistioning in or out it wasn’t possible.
I see this working for my use case perfectly.

Sounds good, I wonder if in the future the same shortcut type could be applied to set alpha, zoom, pan xy creating a keyframing system of sorts.

+1 I agree with everything said so far. How many posts does it take before vMix people implement these suggestions?

I have to say Vmix are easily the most reactive software company I have ever encountered . We ask for something and when enough people request it they build the functionality . The customer support is also amazing and they are never even snippy when users complain about a feature not being available that already is. It usually has a tutorial to show us how it works as well. The speed of software development is hard to believe at times . Please keep the forum as positive as we all can . There is a very helpful friendly environment here.

This will be a great feature to implement.
IT will make the production of live sport so much slicker. It's just too abrupt and it's a sharp cut.
thanks,
Cheers Gerard

+1Although SetVolumeFade can be convenient, keeping on track with all (trivial) triggers with separate audio outputs assigned to cameras calls for automatic crossfades complicates the setup too much IMO (referring to https://www.vmix.com/kno...dio-input-with-a-camera)
