Adding four buttons next to each layer in the multiview page would allow transitions eg- cut, fade, wipe, fly. The last three would follow the transition type/duration selected on the primary transition dropdowns.

Part 2

To make it more like a trad ME a select button is added allowing a selected group of layers that could all be simulateouly transitioned or cut, on or off, using cut and Auto buttons.

Part 3

A single preview button is added showing the result of the selection group on preview before it's actioned.

That was their disc recorder, 2 x 30secs uncompressed SD?

Last week I unearthed a glossly A82 broucher for their D2 digital switcher. The tag was `Meeting your analogue needs today and your digital needs tomorrow'. This was before component SDI.

Abekas was a trailblazer, much like vMix.

Rights you are. It's been a while.

The A66 was the component disk recorder.

The A84 was the big, component, digital layering switcher. You could split its resources across edit suites.

Im from the Philippines, been doing this job of vmix "templating" works for some period of time.

This is my latest job for a Social TV Station.

Sorry no audio, just check out the functionalities. it is done with some scripting and VMIX UTC and also touchOSC for phone controls

I think M/E would be a great addition in VMIX if some day they will implement it :)

Hi all,
Bonus points for suggestions on how you think it should be implemented.

So,

I had previously alluded to this before.

One possible implementation would be adding a software option or "license" if you will that would allow transforming an input into a full session of vMix essentially (well, stripped down). Obviously you would have some limit to this so people don't shoot themselves in the foot but maybe you could sell a 1ME 2ME 4ME 8ME. And maybe they would just be bundled into each existing SKU instead of being an add-on.

Now you did mention something about not being able to use multiple windows... So that may be a roadblock here. I imagine each sub mix would be a new window.

Basically if I wanted to, I could convert an input into a full mixer. It would share all the inputs with the main session (except an echo of itself)

Then I could have an addition strip on xkeys for PREVIEW bus on sub mix #1 and a separate take and stinger and merge button. My favorite transitions to use on the big screens are fade for graphics and cut for cameras. My favorite on the web/record feed is a merge or cut and sometimes stinger. Now I would be able to do this.

Maybe the sub mixes do not have preview monitors on each input as this would be redundant.

The current multiview settings works just fine and to be honest its as powerful as a mixer with M/Es and even more powerful than the traditional mixers.

Right now im changing input to put in multiview is thru a script. It would be great to see if you can put transition on every change of multiview source.

One thing i did as a workaround is use overlays 1 and 2 to change input.

Example:

Input 1: Uses Input 2 Vitual to put in multiview 1, when i need to change to input 3 virtual I would put input 3 virtual as overlay 1 to fade, then change multiview 1 input to input 3 then fade out overlay 1.

This workaround works but very tricky. It would be great if all multiview has transition select button hehe.

Here is my bet: more M/E is what we will get in v22.
Any takers?

EDIT: technically it is not a bet, rather a guess. But the former sound cooler ;)

Big old bump and +1, mostly because of the guess.

But M/E is not in the beta now.

However, I do feel like M/E workflow would be great.

I already use Output assignments and multiview layers to control my outputs 2-4 on my setups, but a slight shift in approach on the Aux outputs would be a big leap in perception of their use.

+1 from me.

I'd suggest a mini transition area similar to the main transition area that could be sent to an output.

+1 for an extra Mix Effect. I once turned the full workflow upside down to go around this:

Needed fades in the screen of a show, but only cuts for the final output. So I made the director cut on output3, and use PGM for the screen. Needless to say it was a mess to program it, and lots of workarounds were needed to have it show up correctly in the multiview.

I think that an easy solution could be using (but improving) the "list" feature. At the moment the list can accept just pictures or videos and the manual selection of the items has just a cut. It could be an idea to can add any input to the list (cameras and vmixcallers included) and the selection of any transition between an item to the other. In this way, for example, you can easily add a list to a screen in virtualset. Shortcuts for the selection of the items could be also useful. Maybe this could be the easier solution for programmers of Vmix.
