Hi there!
I'm writing because i have upgraded my graphics card to GEFORCE GTX 1060 6GB OC, to move from 720p25 to 1080p50.
In my first test, vMix handled fine streaming and recording at 1080p25 using hardware encoder. Yesterday, i've tried to stream and record at 1080p50, playing a video from my hdd as source, but the GPU OVERLOAD warning appears, and starts dropping frames.
So, i want to know in your experience, if that graphics board can handle this load, or should i think on upgrading others components of my setup.
I'm working with an old i7 second generation, with 8GB RAM.
Thanks in advance.

Kind regards!

Hi,

i'm using a 1060 6 GB for 2 years now with several 1080p50 inputs and streaming in 1080p without issues.

Have you gone through the knowledgebase fro best performance settings?

Regards,

marc

I have an i7-5775C with GTX750 Ti and I've done events in 1080p60 without ever seeing GPU overload.

How much layering do you have with your source scenes? That couple be the problem.

Thanks for answering.
In this case, only the source (MP4 video, same frame size and frame rate than output), without layers.
I'm thinking on formatting the PC. Done that two months ago.

Thanks!!

The first thing I notice from this is that the GPU memory clock appears to be 950, while it should be 2000 mhz (8000 effective).

What do your Vmix performance, recording and streaming settings look like?

Thanks for answering!

Take a look at the settings:

streaming.png (19kb) downloaded 0 time(s). recording.png (18kb) downloaded 0 time(s). settings.png (21kb) downloaded 0 time(s).

What are you thinking? Drivers? Or motherboard bottleneck?

The motherboard is thisone: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H67/
GPU installed on the brown PCIe port...

Thanks again for helping!

The GPU is in the wrong PCIe slot.

According to the motherboard manufacture the BLUE slot is the only 16x slot operating at 16x mode.

The darker one (they say black, although it looks more brown) only operates at 4x.

1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)
2 x PCIe 2.0 x1 *1
3 x PCI

Thanks for answering..
These days i couldn't test anything.. i'm working a lot (using my backup vMix PC).

Yesterday i've changed the PCIe port, as you suggested.

It's a quite strange. Testing same video, at 1080p50, streaming and recording with hardware encoder. The result was 6ms of render time, no frames dropped, but in GPU-z didn't see performance improvements. The frequency of GPU and memory clock are the same than before changing the PCIe port. In the other hand, i loose a PCIe port (the graphics card use two spaces), so i have one Mini Recorder less. Not sure what to do, but it's clear that now works better.

Today i will keep testing.
Tomorrow hope to post some news.
Thanks again!

The only thing I would worry about is the CPU and Mobo PCIe lanes. The CPUs for 1155 socket only support 16 lanes. They are filled with the GPU already. Adding additional bandwidth hungry PCIe Cards like capture cards will lead to a bus congestion. You might get performance issue once the cards are all fully loaded.

Jens, thanks for answering.

On the last two days i was testing. Yesterday, i've moved a project to 1050p50, working with two cameras at 1080i25 from a BMD Mini Recorder and the second from NDI.

Recording 1080p50 16Mb bitrate, Streaming 720p50 1,5Mb bitrate. Render time about 7ms. Worked really fine. But changing the graphics cards didn't show in GPU-Z a better performance. But in the field, worked much better.

The new issue is that the "black" port of the mainboard, where used to be the old graphics card, now is unusable, so i cant connect my second BMD Mini Recorder.

I think this cannot change until i replace the mainboard. I've tested on the BIOS setup three diferent modes on that port without success.

So, for now, my issue of the graphics card finish here...

Thanks all for helping!
Feel free to take a look and comment at the result of the GeForce GTX1060 card working yesterday at here.
Best regards!

Hello,

What problem do you have on the "black" port?
No room for the BMD or does the BMD not work?
If the BMD is not displayed, you have made a mistake when switching
the video card from the black port to the blue port.
You probably did not delete the graphics driver before you removed the video card.
When changing graphics cards, always clear the drivers first.
I already had this problem with a map. The card is reinstalled on the old slot, then the driver deleted, PC shut down, card removed and the BMD card installed.

remove the video card driver

My friend, you are a genious!

Before removing the graphics card driver, i've removed and reinstalled the BMD Mini Recorder driver, and thats what gived back my second capture card.
So now definitly this thread can be closed:
-Graphics card working with limitations (by motherboard)
-All (two) capture cards working

Thanks to all for helping!

Best regards.
