Hi

just realized that source inputs aspect ratio is not correctly handled when creating virtual inputs or VirtualPTZ inputs based on position.

When all inputs share the project aspect ratio (16:9), it's all OK.

When using inputs with a different aspect ratio (like 3:2 or 4:3 or square photos), virtual inputs get stretched/distorted to fit project aspect ratio (16:9)

Screencap :
preview is source image (1080x1080) - program is showing stretched virtual input
same problem with 3:2 images when used with VirtualPTZ (shown in inputs thumbnails) which makes it impossible to use the "create input at position" feature.

vmix_aspect-ratio.jpg (451kb) downloaded 37 time(s).

Thanks
Guillaume

Have you tried setting the Aspect Ratio for the original input to "Normal", rather than "Source"? Then the same for the virtual input?

Yes I have
It results my source image is stretched at once (a square is no longer a square) as well as in the virtual copy.

You can easily reproduce this issue... I tried everything I could think of before submitting here but maybe I forgot something...

I have situation that My LED screen on the stage is 18mX3m, so im making my videos on the same ratio, but in vmix I dont have option to adjust the preview/program/or input window accordingly, I managed OUTPUT to the screen and worked like charm, but during live production its ver confusing while adjusting new requirements on the spot.

So i would suggest to have option to adjust our inputs/preview/program windows ratio according to our needs.

VMIX is wonderfull. I like it so much

Same problem here. We are using VMix in 4k quad split to feed 4 screens. Two of them side by side. So we use images and clips in 32:9 and the virtual inputs are always distorted

That is correct as the Virtual Input only supports standard aspect ratios, whereas the video and image inputs specifically support arbitrary aspect ratios.
However, it is usually not necessary to use virtual inputs in most situations, so if you could describe what they are needed for there is likely an alternative way of doing things.

For example, usually a blank input with the source added as a layer instead, or even a Mix input that has the original input as an output source will work just the same, while preserving the source aspect ratios exactly.

If I need the image twice in the rundown I would like to use the virtual input as a fast way to make a copy with all adjustments like color correction, position or zoom.

(Yes, I am still missing the MOS protocol support to make the rundown automatically like in the Avid Maestro NewsController we use for the titles)

By the way, it is interesting that the clip with a resolution of 3840*1080 is blown up to full 16:9, but the jpg with the same resolution does not fill the 16:9-window. But the correction factor is Y-zoom 0.5 for both.

Why does it needs to be duplicated, why can't the image just be referenced twice from the same input?

During the live show I change the images with scripts (SPACE makes a fade and loads the next input in preview, BACKSPACE loads the previous input in prewiev and makes a fade).
So if I need an input twice I like to have it twice in my rundown. At the same time I have to do the titles with my left hand on the Avid.
Sure, I can load the image in a second input but it could be so easy and fast with right-mouseclick and choose "virtual input"
