Suggestions for 4K PCIe card add on, please?

Our two vMix machines are fitted with the Blackmagic Quad 2 cards for 8 separate in/outs.

As it's only up to 1080p and we have two BlackMagic URSA broadcast cameras, that we'd like to be able to connect to vMix using 4K.

Also, we would like a 4K SDI output as well, to drive 4K projectors in the venues.

What card would you suggest we add to the machines for this.

We tried the 8K card, but it doesn't do the job.

I would suggest newtek's spark pro. Capturing via NDI. If that is not an option I would recommend browse the magewell.com side. They have great devices and good support.

Oh, I thought multiple 4K streams would put such a demand on bandwidth, that it had to be via PCIe ?

Several 4K NDIs seems to me to be either lower quality (which is quite the opposite of why we go for 4K) or insane amounts of network traffic.

The Decklink 8K Pro is a single channel capture card and should work for 4K capture in vMix, but only good for one camera.
The only multi channel 4K capture card I am aware of is the YUAN SC560 line of cards:

Yep. 4K via NDI would use some bandwidth. Guessing 400-600 mbps per source. No issue using Gigabit to the encoder. Likely need 10 GB Ethernet for your vMix host.

As long as it's NDI (not NDI-HX) it won't be appreciably degraded by the transition to IP.

With Version 22 there will be support for Aja Kona 5. Multichannel 4K capture. Going further with additional 4k channels I would like to draw the attention onto the Ross Carbonite Ultra offering up to 18 inputs and 10 outputs in 12G at an attractive price point.
Also, please keep in mind that these PCIe cards need internal bandwidth as well. If you have an i7 most have only 16 lanes which I guess are taken by the GPU. Adding a Kona 5 with 8 lanes will create a congestion inside your host system. Make sure your host computer supports all the lanes you add. Xeon CPUs mainly support 40 lanes. So be smart with your decision.

Please have a try with Magewell Pro Capture 4K Plus products, which can handle up to 4K60 or 1080p240 signals.
PRO CAPTURE HDMI 4K PLUS LT or PRO CAPTURE DUAL HDMI 4K PLUS LT is recommended.
