Hi guys,

We've been using vmix for about 6 months and are very happy with it apart from getting audio glitching about once a minute on both the recording and the live stream.

I've had a look at the error logs and it shows that it's trying to save the VST3 presets about once a minute, causing dropped samples and errors trying to write to corrupted or protected memory (see pics) -could this be causing the audio glitch? Sometimes we get the same error message when saving a Vmix preset too. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks Giles

So here’s what I’ve found in case anyone else is having this issue.

Even though the windows 10 user is at admin level many of the folders on the c drive were set to read only, and when opening them it required a ‘confirmation’ click when accessing each one. During recording and streaming I believe Vmix is trying to save various backup settings to the c drive and when it can’t it’s causing a system interrupt and making the audio glitch. I’ve changed most of the c drive permissions to allow read and write and after testing this seems to have fixed the problem.

Hey guys,

Unfortunately the audio glitching is still there. I’ve managed to get round the problem by using a focusrite usb audio interface but this has used up one of our inputs that we need for something else.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Thanks

Giles

I think encoding and needs a buffer which might be why the audio interface sorted it out (add delay in the input settings)

Thanks Barney for replying.

Do you mean the recording buffer in settings? If so I have that set to maximum. For input delay I have the audio delayed by 50ms and that seems to correct the lip sync in the recording and stream. Is there another place to increase the audio buffer?

Hi,

10 months on and unfortunately I'm still having the same problem. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong as I seem to be getting a lot of dropped samples? Thanks IMG_5443.JPG (109kb) downloaded 0 time(s). IMG_5444.JPG (96kb) downloaded 1 time(s).

Forgot to say-this is using the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 as an audio input

Hi Giles,

A few things to check:

1. Are you still seeing the VST3 error in the logs?
If so this indicates a plugin is faulty and should be removed.

2. Increase the buffer size in the Focusrite control to the highest possible, or at least 960 samples (20ms)

3. Remove all other USB devices as a test to see if one may be interfering.

4. Make sure the Windows power options is set to High Performance.

Regards,

Martin

Thanks so much for your help Martin,

1. I have a Waves C6, Waves L2 and also Youlean Loudness Meter 2 on the master bus-could it be one of those?

2. Buffer size is currently 960 and I have tried 1024 but it doesn't seems to make any difference

3. Only other usb device is a bluetooth mouse and keyboard-would that do it?

4. Windows is at high performance (usb power saving off).

One thought-if the stream buffers (yellow flashing occasionally) due to our bandwidth being marginal would that affect it at all?

I would suggest removing all the VST3 plugins to confirm.
If results are better, add them one by one until the culprit is found.

We had kinda same problem, audio was glitchy when we used Berhinger USB interface Line in. After switching to ASIO input, it got much much better, but was not eliminated. Afterwards we discovered, that when cameras were at 48Khz and USB interface for some reason 44.1Khz, it glitched out on us. After switching everything to 48Khz, problems went away.

Also, one PC was very weird about which USB port to use, only one USB 2.0 port had no glitches, any other port introduced glitchy audio. It did not matter, what I had connected or did not to the USB ports.

I think I’m going to try removing the plugins one by one and see how that goes.

MartLieb, thanks. I tried ASIO and also the focusrite USB drivers but it seems to be the same. Also tried 44,1 and 48k no different. Even using the camera input xlr’s and the focusrite 2i2 disconnected it was the same.

AMAZING-IT'S FIXED!!! Thank you so much to everyone who helped figure this out-it turned out to be the Youlean Loudness Meter VST3 plug in causing the audio glitching and dropouts.

YES! I've been experiencing the exact same problem and can confirm that the Yoolean Loudness Meter VST3 plugin is indeed causing audio dropouts when used in vMix.
Removing the plugin solves that.

It's a great plugin to use nevertheless: it's free and the measurements it produces are identical to those of professional and more expensive LUFS metering plugins.
Just don't use it in vMix :-)
