vMix has supported 360 video for a long time, in fact many single and multi-cam live 360 events are switched and streamed with vMix. You may have already seen some without knowing it. We have been meaning to add some 360 sets for quite a while and just never got around to it. These sets allow you to place 2d content within the 3d space, so you can have flat video screens and displays but still have the ability to have the production in 360.
The plan was to make a video about this last week, but time caught up with us. So maybe next week?

Here's a look at the 360 virtual set in vMix and how to use it. This is the 360 video that was produced live during the tutorial video.

hi Tim, finally got around testing 360 video livestreaming. managed to get a garmin, these are 'old' and out of production. but still the only afforable 360 cam with hdmi live out and stiching...
a few questions: i want to replace top and bottom. current placeholders only cover front back left and right ( in the 360 virtual set ) Q: can I add a top and bottom placeholder in the set myself. could you add it?
it's to replace the sealing and stand with other images or video.
Q: did you remove the 'door' - the ledge covering the hdmi port? how did you do that? if not: it is in the field of view.
Q: is there or did you notice any difference in stiching near or far? i did not notice it. but maybe have to restart...
this is an old topic but now with zooms all over the place i wat to try something different. but in oder for 360 video to look good with people you have to put the camera on eye level. that's another challenge... ideas? experiences?

Hello,
we are also thinking about buying a 360° camera
Is it possible with vMix to get a PTZ view 16:9 from the HDMI Live signal and to select or change it live?

hi xaver, what do you mean? I guess the trick with 360 live and on demand, is that the viewer determines where he/she will look. the viewer is controlling the ptz as you can say.
here it works with the Garmin, but no audio over the hdmi. have to check if single mic will.
also managed to overlay top and bottom in fcpx in post, but want to do that live: so I can mix flat view ( the regular vmix mix ) and 360 overview in one stream with top and bottom filled ( now trying a jungle - so leaves overhead and fish below ) setting is a table with people talking. maybe with a powerpoint ( flat view mixed in ) - like Tim's example.
now would zoom support 360 or skype or teams....
cheers Stefan

Hi stefan I would decide, which pos of the 360° view will go outside, the stream is a 1080p stream
is it possible to get the "flat" video of the 360 HDMI out into vmix and PTZ the pos I want to habve (like in youtube)

no unless you input the flatview - from a 360 viewer. but not directly from the camera. that's how I use it. cheers stefan
