I'm ready to buy a video card with NVEnc to helps Vmix encode and records.
Target is a GTX 1050 low profile because I have an ITX motherboard and low case. The GTX 1050 is the most powerful low profile video board.
I've seen two GTX 1050: 2GB and 4GB ti.
Does Vmix really uses 4GB? Does Vmix needs 768 Cuda cores instead of 640?
My target is 1080i sources, external 1080i output, 1080i record, 1080p streams.
Thanks.

That question cannot be answered as asked. How much memory vMix will use depends upon the complexity of your shots. Got lots of layers, compositing, graphics, stingers? That adds to the memory requirements.

Question was: does VMIX uses a lot of memory or not?
VMIX isn't a videogame with a dozen GB of texture to manage, nor a bitcoin mining software.
We are not talking about of speed but memory size. Memory size is not speed.
If your PC had 1000TB of hard disk space would not be more useful of another PC with "only" 2TB.
Question is: in which way VMIX uses video ram?
Using GPU-Z I see that VMIX uses a low quantity of video ram, about 256k while I'm recording and streaming in fullHD 60p. Why I've to but a card with 4 or 8 or 11GB?
This is the question. Thanks.

@ carsco
There are a lot of variables that come into play, as mj alludes to, however, as I understand it, vMix typically does not use more than 2 GB of video memory. It is important to keep in mind that vMix is not the only kid on the block when it come to what the GPU has to allocate resources to and as such, video memory is not exclusive to vMix. For those situations where a vMix production has more than 30 Inputs, additional video memory can be tapped into with the "High Input Performance Mode" option for cards with 3GB + of memory, otherwise, it pretty much needs to work within its memory allotment on the card. At least that is how I comprehend the matter.

The answer, which has been offered previously, but you seem intent upon refuting, is that it depends what you're doing with vMix. If you drive multiple monitors and use screen capture a lot, it will use more memory. My vMix PC can drive 6 monitors at 4K! If your shots are complicated, multi-layered composites, or you use stinger transitions, it will use more memory. At this point you've wasted more money in time considering the question than the difference in the cost between the cards.

Open your VMIX and your 6 monitor in 4k, open your stingers, open your multi-layer... open ALL. Then go on GPU-Z, Sensors, Memory used: how much memory does your PC uses? THIS is an answer. Sorry, but if you answer me "it depends" is same as not answering.
