Greetings. My system has been really stable, records fine, looks great, but I am hoping to reduce latency to as low as possible. This is after doing a show in a larger venue, with more powerful projectors, the latency was noticeable.

Current system is as follows:
Asus Z170-K
i7 6700 at 4 GHz
32 GB ram DDR4 2133 MHz
GTX 1070 8 GB
Blackmagic Quad 2

SSD system and data drive with a sata hdd for backup

I am sure there are discussions on system builds here, but when I upgrade I am also considering upgrading vmix to support Multicorder. I have 8 inputs with the Quad 2 - can vmix support recording to 8 separate drives? Really most likely a max of 6 at once.

So, questions are:
Does vmix support multiple processors. Is upgrading to a dual processor Xeon worth it?
Is there better graphics cards that will help?
64 GB or RAM?
Using the Blackmagic Quad has been working well, but I am wondering about the latency induced by converting from HSMI to HDSDI using blackmagic mini converters and cable lengths up to 200 feet.

My signal chain goes as follows: Camera/HDMI converter/BNC cable to input of Quad 2 - output using a Kramer Pico converter
from HDMI to CAT6 cable shielded, to a projector.

Any input most appreciated.

Yes, I tested it on a VM that runs on a host with two XEON sockets. But it needs a GPU. On my VM (without GPU) all rendering was black.

A Nvidia 1080 should do ok. I have a 1060 and am happy with it.

Ram doesn't matter that much. I run on 16GB and never felt vMix is requesting for more

I'm not the biggest fan of BMD but they have bang for the buck. Be aware that there are frequent driver updates.

vMix has latency no matter what hardware you use. It's inherent to the way it works and the type of hardware it's built upon.

If you want no latency, use hardware solutions for IMAG. As Richard said, it's been largely discussed already, use the search feature

Vmix has about 3-4 frames of latency. Plus camera plus proyector or processors for led. If used sdi out need to add 1-2 frames. About 5 frames with sdi out.

Hardware like atem when genlocked has about 1-2 frames when you use pip or dve.

Difference is about 2 frames between vmix with hdmi out vs dedicated hardware. About 4 frames with sdi out.

Our best vmix total lantecy from camera to led screens is 100ms at 60P. 130ms at 50P.
