Super Basic vMix Scheduler makes a better name than HTTP Matrix now that I think about it, but after being asked for the thousandth time how to start and stop a stream at a certain time I spent a small quantity of time this weekend writing something for the community to do just that. And quite a few bit of other things too.

IANAP (I Am Not A Programmer) or rather, IAATP (I Am A Terrible Programmer), so go easy on this beta beta version of this program. That said, I'd love some feedback: does it install? Does it control vMix? Does it makes sense? And most importantly, does it start and stop your recordings and streams?

Short version: This is controlled by a .txt file with which you program your buttons. You give them a name, you give it vMix API command, and a start and stop time (optional)

You can also just use it as a simple controller for vMix, less elaborate but simpler and custom to your configuration.

Next up? Shortcuts.

Questions? Feedback? Does it work at all?

Link to the matrix like this

Eric, I like that you went out and accomplished this just by your interest and intuition. Big cadeau on that!

This is pretty cool. Since you are using RESTful methods, I got this sending shortcuts and trigger macros on my TriCaster very easily.

I might make a video on how to do this.

Thank you Eric. After watching you on Tom's show I downloaded and installed quickly. It works like a charm for me. I'll be using it to start our stream ontime Sunday morning and Sunday night at church. I've been using the vMix countdown timer to start our stream but it is cumbersome to use to start at a certain time. Your scheduler is much easier to use and it starts at the time specified. I'll be dreaming up other uses for it in time. The first thing I wanted to do was comment some lines in the .txt file but realized I could not comment lines. That would be a nice addition.

Thank you,

Eric, thanks for this!

This is perfect for an application we have. Except for one thing.
We have different conditions that need to run a different setup. I can easily replace the text file with the new setup, but I don't have access to the running interface. You have a "refresh" button that works perfectly, if you had an "Auto refresh" that updated every few minutes or something - that would be awesome!

Thanks again,
Steve

@Kane - That's cool, I didn't think to see what kind of commands could be sent to a Tricaster but I suppose you can use this to send commands to both at the same time. Is there an command list somewhere so I can reference that as well for NewTek customers?

@slb5146 - Comment is a good suggestion, I'll try to work it into the next version

@steve - I don't see why we couldn't check for a new version every few minutes. I really wanted to make a loading dialog so you can have different config files. Would that work better?

Hi Eric,

I remember seeing you demo this a long time ago on "Streaming Idiots", but never had a reason to use something like it. I was recently given a project where they wanted actions to happen at exact times. I couldn't remember the name, but after going through the Eastern Shore Broadcasting YouTube archives managed to find it. It's working like a charm in testing. I just have vMix and the list mode loading at Windows startup and it's working exactly as intended.

Many thanks for creating such a useful and simple app. Also, thanks to Tom Sinclair for having you on the show. I probably would have found it eventually without it, but definitely helped.

Cheers

Just for the record... Yes, that is a Dum-Dum candy that I am holding. It is a product of the Spangler Candy Company and the unofficial candy of Streaming Idiots.

Hi Eric;
Very useful - thank you.

questions:
A shortcut to select a different config file OR a shortcut to the file directory ("recall")?
Can more buttons be added?
Issue - if I want a button as a manual trigger and set times to None, the old time still shows. Is that typical?
Can buttons change color when active?
how do you do a repeating call - like a logo on/off every 3 minutes?
And a note field would be cool.

Thank you - just suggestions....

Hank
