In testing for an event, API commands sent from a Graphics PC to a vMix Replay Machine work great. During the event, not so much. Assuming the commands have not changed, what could be the issue?

Not knowing alot about the setup, here is what I assume is the case:

PC's are on a private network with static IP's
Only NDI traffic is 2-4 graphic apps (including the one sending API Commands to replay)
Live streaming the program out to a CDN.

Is it possible that network traffic is so great that the command gets lost? Or that the RePlay machine is so busy it ignores the command?

I see in the vMix manual that when successful it will throw a 200 code, unsuccessful a 500 code.. I will try to incorporate that response into my UI somehow (a confidence light, bell or whistle) to let a person know that the command was indeed sent and received. past that.. I'm not sure how else to troubleshoot..

Anyone run into trouble before with Web API commands using GET?

Thanks in advance
Mike

Assuming is not good enough.
If you develop things, you must force people to follow YOUR requirements, not just assume they will use the proper setup.

If it works reliably for you, the problem is on their side, but I will not assume on the potential reasons... Everything you said is possible but you need real info not just assumptions.

I agree with you about assuming things, DWAM... I look forward to confirming them later today when the user is awake...

Assuming my assumptions are correct, what else is there to consider? Amy other relevant tools to test with?

I know the user had an x-keys tied to the replay as well, it is possible that is causing conflict? Grasping at straws here.

Thanks again
Mike

Make sure about IP infrastructure. A lot of people use Wifi instead of real cables

I will double check that. I believe he is pulling a cat-6 wire for NDI/API. As for wifi, it is possible it is being used for other purposes. Perhaps event attendees see the AP and are trying to jump on it? Seems like that would manifest itself in other ways as well (NDI dropping frames). Will keep you posted
