Hello,

I am seeing an issue with all of my physical capture inputs after updating Windows 10 to version 1803 "Windows 10 April 2018 Update". An error dialog pops up stating "Capture Device could not be loaded, please check the device and try again." All of the inputs work fine under Windows 10 1709 "Fall Creators Update". This is the case on two separate machines I run vMix on (I have two licenses :-). I have three sets of encoder cards and all of them give the same error below. This is making me think there is a problem with vMix itself. I first experienced this a few months ago and figured there was a vMix update on the way to fix it. I downgraded to Windows 10 1709 for the meantime. Several months have passed and the problem persists.

I have the following capture cards:

- Magewell XI400DE (PCIe 4x)
- Magewell XI100D (USB)
- Blackmagic Decklink Mini Recorder (PCIe 1x)

I am running the latest vMix 21.0.0.55.

The logs output the following error regardless of the card:

========================================
21.0.0.55 - AddNewInput - 8/25/2018 2:34:23 PM
========================================
vMix.VMIXException: Capture Device could not be loaded, please check the device and try again.

I did find this article in the Knowledge Base that referenced the error, but I don't see why a security setting would cause this:
https://www.vmix.com/kno...bcam-access-denied-error

Any assistance is appreciated. I have used vMix for the last four years in sports broadcasting and my operators love it.

Thank you

In Windows, go to Settings -> Privacy and make sure that Camera and Microphone access are enabled.
"Allow apps to access your camera"
thanks 1 user thanked admin for this useful post.

Don't you just hate windows updates. We found 1803 reset holes that we had manually punched in the local 'Private' firewalls

Clean install is not feasible every time you want to use your system. I believe windows 10 Pro can hold off updates, but the home edition you cannot delay updates.

Before allowing any installation of updates, make a full image of the boot volume. It's quick and painless. Lets you get back to business if the new release proves troublesome.

Can you give a link to a tutorial on that Michael?

sorry, but thats not true, there is no options on Windows 10 pro to permanently disable updates... unless you use some apps out there on the web...

No tutorial required. Just get Macrium Reflect. There are free and paid versions. Use it to to make an image of the boot volume to some other media.

While this may be possible with a tool included in Windows, Reflect is just so easy that it's my preferred method.

I believe that Kyle did not say you could "permanently disable updates." Rather he said you can "hold off updates" which implies it is a temporary action.

This is an indication that it's time to make an image of your vMix system....before the next restart.

Windows 10 Update downloaded, ready to install.

I would ask why you are doing insider preview ring on your vMix :-) ???
Also too late to image, the update is already pre-queued.

1 - Because I can on THIS system. This one is on the bleeding edge on purpose.

2 - I have an image from a week back. But even making an image now would allow me to recover to a state where the queued update could be scrapped.
