Hello All,
First let me say that I believe this software is fantastic. As I type I am using it for yet another webcast. Currently I use an Alienware M17X R1 w (2) Nvidia 260M GFX cards running in SLI. My capture bay is a Decklink Studio in a Magma bay bringing in the capture via the ExpressSlot.

I truly enjoy the options in Version 10 but have been forced to roll back to version 9.1.035. With version 9 I drop ZERO frames. With version 10 I drop thousands of frames. I have tried changing video drivers to no avail and am actively looking for a solution so that I might upgrade. Tis true in December I will be purchasing a newer Alienware as that is when my companies Capex will allow me to do so however until then I must make due with the hardware I currently have.

Any and all suggestions on how I might be able to rectify the severe frame drops I am experiencing with version 10 would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Dale T. De Witt

Hi Dale,

What version of windows are you running, what CPU and what recording options have you selected?
Also, do the dropped frames show up in the recording or somewhere else?

Regards,

Martin

When running Vmix Ver 9 .. Not recording and going external to Adobe Flash Media Encoder ... the Media encoder reports zero dropped frames and watching the stream (on a different computer and connection) confirms that the stream is indeed top quality.

When using Vmix ver 10 same settings, in both vmix as far as the preset goes and same settings in Adobe media encoder frames start dropping at an alarming rate and eventually the encoder crashes. (vmix still runs)

Uninstalling ver 10 and reverting to version 9 corrects the problem ... which leads me to believe there is something different in the video rendering or handoff to the media encoder between these two versions???

At the moment I am doing a webcast for a customer and will soon travel to L.A. for another however when I have a free moment I will happily make a video of whats going on if you would find that helpful... We could even schedule a time where you could watch a stream from vmix ver 9 VS vmix ver 10 if you like...

I greatly appreciate your time and interest in the matter...

Sincerely

Dale

Hi Dale,

What external output resolution have you selected in vMix and what encoding settings are being used in FMLE?
This will allow me to test these settings on this end.

Martin

Probably easiest to take a screenshot of the External Output tab in settings and a screenshot of FMLE
(showing the dropped frames too if possible).

Also, try comparing the Render Time display at the bottom of the vMix window between versions.

If you are using nVidia Optimus, make sure vMix 10 is using the same graphics card as vMix 9 as
Optimus may not remember the settings between versions.

Martin

Also, there are some separate frame rate settings under External Output in settings in vMix 10
so make sure they match the output frame rate and the frame rate in FMLE.
