Hello Everyone,
I have a 2 minute pre-recorded video clip that I want to roll in during a live broadcast. There is audio but it is not synced to a person's lips. Just background audio voice over.
What is the best approach
1) Play the AVI (or MP4) with the audio included. (Which is best AVI or MP4)
2) Create a png sequence and trigger or multiview the audio track.
Which causes the least processor usage during a live streaming production.
Thanks!

Why don't you just test both alternatives to know ? Is it too much work ? I guess it's quicker than coming here to ask !
FYI, there is a huge difference between AVI and MP4 files, not for CPU but rather for disk access

HI
At the same time I asked the question I have also been testing.
However I am sure there are different subtitles in the process, such as MP4 vs AVI-- and am looking for feedback from people who have had experience with the various ways of doing this. And there are various flavors of MP$ and AVI (compressed and compressed, etc.) Then there's Mp3 vs WAV. Mp3 smaller file size, but does it require more processing power than uncompressed wav.
So there are many alternatives to consider.... Many combinations....
Feedback and sharing is what this forum are for.
For example, I am going to test having the videos/png on a separate computer and using NDI.
So I welcome anyone's helpful comments on this and will share my testing results.

I always use MP4 for anything that isn't a stinger.
The reason to use PNGs is that they are very high quality and carry alpha channel, which means "stinger" to me. They demand more from disk IO.
Your system with have it's own profile. Is it more CPU constrained? Or IO constrained?
