Dear all,
apologies if there's already a good post in the forum, or info in the user guide ... I searched but did not really find an answer.

The question is this:
using a computer with 2x pci-e ssd, and a sata hdd (could of course be upgraded to sata ssd),
what would be the best way to use these 3 drives?

The 2x pci-e ssd can run in Raid 0 (striping), if this would be beneficial.

The use case is to of course have Windows 10 installed somewhere, to have the vMix application installed somewhere, and to have recordings (3 inputs, the main out in LQ and HQ, and 3-camera instant replay) stored somewhere.

Now, which of the 3 drives, will map onto these three tasks (OS, app, recording) in the most performant way?

The system will, next to recording and IRP, also be streaming to 2 destinations.
The system is a 6 core i9 with 1070 gpu and 32gb ram.
If needed, a second system (4 core i7 with 1070 gpu and 16gb ram) could be used to take over the streaming and (part of) the recording, using NDI.
vMix canvas is 1080p25.

So the main question is, what the advice would be regarding the 3 drives (or the striped Raid 0 and the second drive, the hdd):
which drive will do what?

Thanks so much for any advice!

Cheers, Arie

you wouldnt need to raid those nvme drives they are plenty fast. just put your OS on a ssd and use the 2 nvme for storage/playback 1 for each? os is kind of a waste on a nvme. ssd is fast enough for it. i have similar setup been running for years on x99
thanks 1 user thanked hellokitty for this useful post.

thanks a lot, sounds like a good approach:
Replace hdd with ssd (sata), put OS and apps on that,
then use one NVMe for vMix 3 camera IRP and dual stream,
use the other NVMe for recording of the 3 incoming cams and the PGM out (in both HQ and LQ), i.e. using MultiCorder.
