Hello,
We are now using 4 instances of vMix and on all of them we have the same problem. We think it is software related and not hardware. Our system runs 24hour/day 7 days/week. Every 10 days we make a short restart and the system is back on. The problem is that after some time (2-3 days of continuous use) the camera inputs in vMix go Black on all inputs of capture card. We resolve the problem by right click on every input and then Reset. This happens on all of the PCs with different capture cards, OS, and graphic cards. So we think it is vMix related. Till now we haven't figured out what is causing this to happen. All of the cameras are of the same model and they run without any problem. The image from the camera is present.
If there is no solution for the issue, can we Reset the inputs using API. I have looked in the documentation but haven't found anything. The reload function is not working.
Technical information: vmix 16 and vmix 17 Windows 7, Windows 8.1 Graphic cards: ATI RADEON R9 380 and GeForce GTX1050Ti Capture cards: Blackmagic Quad, Quad2 and Mini Recorder CPU i7 4,0GHz and 8GB of RAM Cameras: Sony PXW X160, 1080p25 format

Hi Marin
Are there many cameras on each vMix hosts or a single one always on PGM?
If many cams, does it happen for all of them?
Are you sure it cannot be a cam issue? To test you can use a splitter with a monitor in parallel with vMix. If the monitor's black aswell, it's not vMix. (I know you said "the signal is still present" but it could be "locked" in the cable. Reloading would simply "unlock" it giving the impression it was fine before)
If only 1 camera, maybe you can simply have a script that will regularly "auto-switch" the same input from PVW to PGM (this can be easily done with the API)
I have already used vMix for a whole week 24/7 with 4 cams connected, human switch 18 hours a day, playlist for 6 hours. Can't remember we had such problem (at least when I was there).

Hi DWAM,
Thank you for your reply. The signal from the camera is going through a splitter and we see the output of the camera on a SDI monitor. It is fine there so I don't think it's a problem with the signal. We have three cameras connected to two BM Quad cards. In the other setup we have 4 cameras connected to one BM Quad 2 card and then one output of the Quad 2 is going to another instance of VMIX in a BM Mini recorder card. To have it clear 4 cameras -> Splitter -> BM Quad 2 (VMIX) -> BM Mini recorder (VMIX) It also happens on the input of Mini recorder where we have connected output of the BM Quad 2 Card (and it's the input that makes us the problem). We also tried to set OBS software and let it run for more then 2 weeks, and no problem at all. On all of the installations of vmix we have the same problem, every few days inputs goes black. After resetting the input, its back to normal.

Hi marin, Please make sure the latest vMix 18 is installed and then once the problem occurs go to Settings -> About and click Send Support Report then drop us an email to info@vmix.com.au with your license key. Thanks, Martin vMix

Hi,
Is there some knowledge by now why the imputs go black? I have the same problem an all my broadcastings setups.
Systems are i5 and i7 with 16Gb RAM and 2Gb Nvidia Cards. I've tried also standard Intel card - it got better but still gets black latest after 3 days.
Regards

Thanks, I see that I replied to an email that was sent earlier this month. Basically the issue appears to be the streaming encoder sending the stream to vMix is failing after some time and then refusing connections (as vMix will automatically try to reconnect if the stream is dropped).
Unfortunately this is outside of the control of vMix. You can try firmware or software updates for the encoder you are using to see if there is an improvement.
Regards,
Martin vMix
