So, I think the title says it all. I'd like to use the midi controller on PC1 to fade inputs and adjust volume (easy enough) and on PC2 to start stop recordings? Is it possible? I know how the Web API works but I can't find a way to assign it to a key... or is there another way?

For clarification, the controller is connected to PC1.

yes, you can use midi over IP, but it is not natively in vMix.

Check this site. This might help you..

Thank you! I'll try that! But I was thinking it's easier (if possible..?) to set up a web shortcut on the other PC and use vMix/midi on PC1 to trigger the web shortcut on PC2, but I can't seem to find a way to do that...

Can't be done within vMix. You could try vMixUTC to do also.
