Sometimes I can't avoid clipping from microphones (blowing in/ticking on microphones etc).
The clipping already occured in the soundcard, but I like to hide it as much as possible in the live stream.

When I use the compressor in vMix like this: ratio 1:25 and threshold for example -3dB
Does this act like a hard limiter and only remove all the sound above -3dB and as quickly as possible?

The built-in compressor is not really a limiter, even when a high ratio is applied, because the attack time is fixed, and not fast enough.

If you want a "brick-wall" limiter on the output your best bet, now that VST3 is supported, is to buy a 3rd-party plug-in. There's loads to choose from - I chose the "L2 Ultramaximizer" from the Waves range, mainly because it was on offer at the time and for £20 was a affordable loss even if it hadn't been much good, but it works just fine.

Thanks, unfortunately it's now £69,=.

All the free and simple VST plugins I found like Barricade are 32bit.
It's a pity vMix only supports 64bit.

Waves seem to have as many sales as DFS and Allied Carpets*, so you may not have to wait too long before something suitable is available at an affordable price.

I found a free clone of the L1 Ultramaximizer:

http://www.kvraudio.com/...r-by-4front-technologies

But it is not working: (could not create vst3 instance)

(I renamed the 64bit dll to .vst3 and put it in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 folder, did I missed something?)
