A separate talkbak audio channel would be useful to give direction, instruction or information to the contributor while on air or to others present like a local cameraman or director.
Indeed a talkback channel for vmix would be very useful.

+1, this would also make it possible to communicate from within vmix with for example a cameraman who is outside the venue, following the show via a tablet or a phone.

but I would like to see two different options:

One with Vmix Call and the other over SDI (audio channels 15&16, just like Blackmagics Talkback system) and also incorporate the tally inside the SDI signal.

Those two methos should work together.

For example: I can talk to other people on our production as well, they just have to use their phones as an intercom or a camera man who is working with a mobile wireless camera.

And regarding SDI: I could also send the PGM output to the cameraman and maybe even some CCU data (could also work with all Blackmagic Cameras for example).

Add some shortcuts (mic and headphone mute on/off for each person within the partyline and a mute all/talk to all button) to it and you have a complete and simple all-around Talkback, Tally and CCU functionalty that is flexible and can be used in a lot of different ways.

Hi Rinsky

I’d like your enhanced suggestions for this feature request. If vMix is going to incorporate this feature request why not go all the way.

See below for some workflows that can achieve this with existing functionality:

https://www.vmix.com/help20/vMixCallAudio.html

There is also a new shortcut available "VideoCallAudioSource" that can be used to dynamically switch the audio source during the production.
So you could assign it normally to Master, and switch to A which may be your talkback channel, or just use the Solo method mentioned above as the easiest solution.

But unfortunately this can't be achieved right now:

Here's what I'm doing right now to accomplish this. I'm going to try to move to scripts instead of shortcuts...

Many of my shortcuts use the same key, so they execute at the same time. For example, to create a sort of IFB (Interrupted feedback)/Intercom to use with VMix Call guests, on one Xkeys controller I have 8 different buttons to turn on the the following functionality (and another 8 buttons to turn them all off) - and on another controller I have 20 inputs to do the same thing (so that I have a defined range of inputs within which to use the (up to) 8 Vmix Call inputs) - with different input ranges for different types of production needs:

- For each input; simultaneously turn off audio, turn on solo, turn on the directors mic, director's mic to solo, change Vmix Call return audio to "headphones"

- For each input; simultaneously turn solo off, turn off the director's mic, turn off solo for the director's mic, change Vmix call return audio back to "master"

Im not sure if vmix call has the ability to run Stereo, if it did it would be an easy job to route different audio down the left and right side.
so off air down the left on air down the right ?
