Hi everyone.

I am trying to use two computers to set up bringing in vMix to Skype using NDI.

The Knowledgebase and the vMix Skype video are using vMix 17. The vMix setting interface are different in vMix 20. Also the Skype settings panel have also been changed now that we are in 2018.

The main thing is I can not see vMix video in the Skype video dropdown.

Here's my video screen capture of all of my settings.

All of this has been recorded on my 2nd PC which has vMix and Skype and NCI activated.

CLICK HERE for Video Screencast of Skype 2nd PC

Thanks!

If I recall correctly, the Windows 'app' version of Skype does not see VMix as a source, but the 'classic/desktop' version does.

Thanks Alan,

Indeed that "fixed" the issue.

I downloaded the Classic Skype at the below link and now Classic Skype's video settings lets me "see" vMix.

It's the official link on the Microsoft site. Click here to page where you can download Classic Skype

Glad to be of help. I, and many other folks who use vMix, have moved away from Skype and now use Zoom.

Tom, agreed... I use vMix call, but it is not an analog for Skype. vMixCall does one thing very very well, but it doesn't do things like screen share, whiteboarding, large group calls, etc. So I limited my comment to Zoom, a direct competitor to Skype.

But Alan, the original poster did not spec whether they needed those Zoom-type features. Only that they were attempting to connect to Skype for unknown purposes. Hence vMix as a good alternative to Skype.

I tried to download the Classic version of Skype via the link you provided by when I try to open the download, I get a popup message to "Please install Skype from the Microsoft store for the best experience." It won't let me launch or execute the file, even if I right click on it and choose "Run as Administrator."

Any suggestions on how to get this if it's the only version of Skype that will interface with vMix?

Thanks.

Hmmm Not sure. Maybe try uninstalling the current version of Skype. (You can always reinstall it if that doesn't work.)

Does anyone else have any suggestions?
