Just getting started with vMix. Wanted to know if the Amazon Fire tablets can be used as video camera inputs and how to go about setting it up and if not, what tablet (non iPad) can I use?

I went for iota (has windows 10) - front and rear camera

haven't stress tested it yet (the iota on WiFi and performance but has always worked so far for what we need) but you'd bring your shots in using vmix call, then if you want a better picture (if you don't mind the clutter and not being as mobile) then is got a usb port for a webcam, and detachable keyboard.

Ok, I already have a Asus RoG laptop with vMix, looking to use my Amazon Fire tablets as video cameras (if that's possible) before I purchase camcorders. Wanting to get user's experience on setting up the tablets as input sources into vMix. I conncted one by usb, but vMix didn't recognize the tablet as a camera input.

@ drc0369

No smartphone or tablet will be readily recognized as a "camera" in vMix.
You will typically require a third party app to be able to use the camera on the device as an Input of some sort in vMix, whether that's the available NDI apps, using apps like Skype or apps that can turn your device into a remote streaming webcam or the game changing vMix Call through a browser.
I hope that helps in some way.

Id just use vmixcall until you have cameras to plug in.

in vmix add input > vmixcall

on tablet. using Google chrome go to vmixcall.com. (allow access to camera and microphone when prompted)

NAME - anything
PASSWORD - Copy the number from your vmix call input

(assuming all divices have internet access)

Might be possible to use NewTek NDI Camera on the tablet. However, you do need very good WiFi for there to be enough bandwidth for acceptable output.

I've also never used a Fire tablet with NDI Camera, just iOS devices, so perhaps someone here has some first hand knowledge on how well this device would work.
