Hi Everyone,

Still testing for our first production with vMix and getting dropped frames "due to input frame rate" on the external output (1920x1080x30p on BMD Intensity Pro via HDMI). There is not a lot of dropped frames, maybe 1 every 20 minutes or so, but is very strange. CPU and GPU and render times are all very low as I am only playing out a 10 minute loop of files, all encoded at 1280x720x30p. The internal recording (mp4@5Mb to a WD Black 7200RPM HDD) dropped 1 frame after an hour.

Would swapping cards in the PCIe slots help with this? I tried my best with what I thought were the best slots to use, but found it a bit confusing. It is also an x99 chipset so that could be an issue as well?

Here's what I have so far:

Gigabyte GA-X99-UD5 WIFI Intel X99 Chipset Motherboard

PCIE_1 (x16@x16) - Zotac NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1050
PCIE_5 (x1) - Blank
PCIE_4 (x16@x8) - Blank
PCIE_6 (x1) - BMD Intensity Pro
PCIE_2 (x16@x8) - Blank
PCIE_7 (1x) - BMD Decklink SDI
PCIE_3 (x16@x4) - Magewell XI-400DE (First Generation) 4xSDI

From the manual:

Quote:
2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x16 (PCIE_1, PCIE_2)
For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIE_1 slot; if you are installing two PCI Express graphics cards, it is recommended that you install them in the PCIE_1 and PCIE_2 slots.

2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x8 (PCIE_3, PCIE_4)
The PCIE_4 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIE_1 slot. When the PCIE_4 slot is populated, the PCIE_1 slot will operate at up to x8 mode. When an i7-5820K CPU is installed, the PCIE_2 slot operates at up to x8 mode and the PCIE_3 operates at up to x4 mode. (All PCI Express x16 slots conform to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)

3 x PCI Express x1 slots (The PCI Express x1 slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)

Thanks for any help.

Based on the manual I'd configure it like this but I haven't researched the card interfaces.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's x99 related. I've had 2 x99 systems, and had nothing but troubles with them. I could tame them to be more or less reliable, but now they're good as a NAS and an editing pc.

Typical x99 related problems: jumpy latency times: from 2 all the way to 100 ms.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with drop frame frame rates such as 29.97 or 59.94. every so often they would drop a frame, and I'd assume this is how vMix would show it, as opposed to hardware dropframes which indicates a performance issue.
