Hi

I have missed any discussion on this topic, if there is any.

I would like to have a shortcut where I couldenter a digit and that row from the data source would populate my lower third. Is there a technique for this

I am using it for sports and would like to be able to just enter the players jersey number and have his data move in.

Thanks

Whit

Currently I am just clicking on the name in the Data Source popup windowm

You may be able to do something with "DataSourceSelectRow"

I don't think you can just enter a custom value such as a jersey number... but if you were to put the athlete info on a row corresponding to their jersey number (Jersey #24 = Row #24) I believe this would work as intended. Not sure how difficult that would be for you to set up your sources properly though...

I think I could do that:

a) sort by jersey number
b) insert blank (empty) rows where jerseys numbers don't exist

But I would love to be able to click on say "5" and have Row 5 populate the graphic.

Thanks for the tip

Whit

Just trying to think outside the box. I realize its not an ideal solution, but it may get the workflow started. I'm sure there would be a lot of users that would support this as a feature request. I can think of a few things I could do with a custom field option like this.

I think NewBlue Titler Live can do something like this, but I haven't used it in awhile. You can type in the graphic number and it will highlight that graphic. I didn't like the NewBlue FX interface as it was mainly mouse driven, but it is pretty popular so some people like it. This type of quick lookup graphic is very common in traditional broadcast CG systems like Xpression, Chyron, Inscriber. Inscriber calls it RapidFire where you just type in the graphic's page number or ID and it will load that graphic.

You could accomplish something like this with vMixUTC. Just have the players in a list and as you start typing the numbers it will populate the name. As it was our first vMix production, we just used vMixUTC list text files to keep it simple. There maybe better ways in vMixUTC to do this though. Especially during a live production, the less mouse use the better.
