We have several different input resolutions and two different output resolutions. We are having some issues with interlacing and would like some help getting them resolved.

You can see our issue here: https://vimeo.com/249241172#t=550s Vertical movement seems to be causing issues.

Run Latest version of VMix 20.

INputs
1. 1080i Camera 1
2. 1080i Camera 2
3. Input from PC 1280 by 800 (via Desktop Capture)

We have been recording as 720p file since our target is Vimeo (trying to stay under 1.5GB for our upload file due to upload time) and doing a full screen output at 720p via HD Modulator (via "full screen" output).

We have been trying a number of different combinations based on various videos and forums posts, but haven't found a satisfactory result at this point. Was wondering if people could share recommendations on the best way to approach these various needs.

I watched your video. If you are concerned about Interlaced issues, perhaps you should try using 720p59.94. The BM DeckLink Mini Recorder can input that. I'm not 100 percent sure your AverMedia can do 720p59.94, but I'll assume it can because it is capable of 720p. I have some DarkCrystal HD Capture SDKII cards that input 720p59.94.

The next question is can your two cameras output 720p59.94?

How about a back-to-basics approach?

For the capture devices:

Do you have the frame rate set to 59.94i?

Do you have the "interlace" option ticked?

This should cause vMix to deinterlace the the sources, so everything is progressive at the output.

Our cameras are older Sony hvr-z5u. I may be reading the manuals wrong but it appears it only does 1080i output.

mjgraves I apperciate you pointing back to the basics since I think that is my problem. I just realized I had the settings as 59.94p and not 59.94i for the recordings. I am not on site to actually test at the moment, but I think that is the root cause of my problem.

The Sony HVR-Z5U is capable of 1080P/29.97. Since you aren't doing something such as sports with a bunch of quick movement, have you thought about simply not using Interlaced video (or deinterlacing)at all? You could output 1080p/29.97 from the cameras and record at 1080p/29.97 too.
