My request is that vMix adds support for LUTS.
Below is a brief description of my church's current live setup.
HD Camera > Atomos Samurai Blade > Blackmagic Design ATEM 1/ME 4K > vMix HD
This year we'll be upgrading our camera's (and accessories) and I want to be able to apply a (e.g. REC 709) LUT in vMix to the Log footage that is coming from the Camera/ATEM.
I know I can apply LUTs inside external recorders (Atomos Shogun etc) and then send that signal out to the ATEM for example but I think it would be useful to be able to apply the LUT inside vMix.

Hi AJA Corvid 88 capture board supports LUT 1D for 8 inputs. Luts color correction being highly CPU intensive, I guess it's a better idea if the signal is treated by hardware before vMix. I agree vMix now deserves a better color correction feature for multicam. I suggested another option using X-Rite: http://forums.vmix.com/d....aspx?g=posts&t=8662Guillaume

I recently used OBS, and it has the option to load LUTS, as seen in this video: Apart from being able to midi map the existing color parameters, and adding a few more (OBS has Gamma and hue shift) LUTS are very high on my feature request list. Next month we do a production with a few gopro's and some sony fs5. Not being able to match them properly is problematic!!

I'm slightly confused by this, a LUT is something that's normally applied to a flat image in post to allow for a greater dynamic range.
It's not something I'd consider using in a live environment or am I missing something?

It's not something I'd consider using in a live environment or am I missing something? That's what usually happens but they can also be used to carry a grade or correction to be applied to a range of shots. Very diverse grades can travel in a 3D lut therefore they could be used to match different camera types and could also be used for effects. On every shot icon in Resolve, right click and you can export that grade as a lut, excluding power windows and secondaries. They aren't used in a live situation but in the absence of full CCU control they could be a good workaround and possibly not that difficult to implement.

+1 I think LUTs would be an excellent way to help match cameras from different MFG.

Hi,
If more advanced colour correction in vMix is what users are really looking for then that is something we are definitely looking into! However, I am not sure LUTs are the right tool for live colour correction, simply because of how specific they are to the source video used to create them.
For example, consider the following colour correction workflow using LUTs:
1. Calibrate camera and capture a still frame or short piece of footage. 2. Import this into a program such as Resolve or Photoshop and apply any adjustments required. 3. Export a LUT representing these adjustments 4. Import this LUT into vMix and apply to camera input 5. Repeat steps 1-4 for each camera
As the above demonstrates a LUT can be considered a preset containing all the adjustments you want to apply to a image. That means there is not going to be a special kind of "Colour Correction" LUT that can be applied to different cameras to make them all match as it doesn't work that way. You will still need to go through each camera and colour correct them by hand every time your lighting setup or camera settings change.
Therefore, how about if we look at adding more colour adjustment options into vMix instead?
There are still situations where LUTs might be handy such as LOG to REC, or "creative" LUTs such as sepia tone and the like, but if colour correction is really what users are after, I think we can do much better focusing our time and energy on those features instead.
Regards,
Martin vMix

YES PLEASE!! Especially when they are controlable by MIDI it would be awesome! Also Tangent wave support would be very nice! I think LUTS can be beneficial though: We work a lot with Sony cams which have those LOG profiles. Also the gopro's have their protune profiles, etc.. Starting from LOG profiles and a LUT, and converting those to REC709, would already make a great starting point, after which the constant tweaking with as many parameters as possible could really bring the production level a lot higher. Another thought: It would be great if we could have an option to seperate the interface for shading from the main interface. That way we could hire a dedicated shader for big productions, who has his own interface if needed (a bit like what you did with the audio mixer and instant replay).

Here's a few LUT boxes on Ebay, unfortunately this listing only posts to Australia and no 20w power supply. According to the manual it will insert a 3D lut and has sdi out. I don't know what the delay is yet. Another use will be to process an in set monitor / projector feed to inversely offset tungsten lighting. It also has a 6 channel de-embedder. https://www.ebay.com.au/...34ffdfddb8%257Ciid%253A1
