Just tried to get my 2 Windows pc's to communicate with vmixcall. I can hear and see everything, but the remote caller can only see me. Remote caller can't hear anything. Any suggestions?

Is Master Audio in vMix on the main PC showing the presence of audio in the volume meter?

Is the Audio Input for vMix Call in the remote PC turned on?

Yes, this is an ongoing issue for my productions. Is this a Chrome bug or a VMIX bug???
Using firefox fixes the issue....

I have the same problem - but it started this week. Had some Remote Guests in the show the week before and no problems.
But yesterday we were not able to make a call: on chrome (windows PC) I could hear and see my guest. But he could only see me.
Tried the same with another Test-Person on a Mac - using Chrome brought us to the same problem.
Interesting: Using Safari on the same Mac (no changes) results in: he can´t suddenly hear me, but I could hear him.
Any ideas or solutions? Will Firefox solve the problem?
thx
ChriS

Update: It worked with firefox and a testcall with a Mac. Same configuration with chrome did not work (like described above)

Hi,

We have been investigating this and so far in our tests the call on the Chrome side has been able to hear the audio and vice verse.
These are the versions of Chrome we have tested successfully:

Windows
62.0.3202.94
63.0.3239.64
63.0.3239.108

Android
62.0.3202.84
63.0.3239.71 (Beta)

This is all using vMix 20.0.0.46

Could you check the Chrome version currently installed from About -> About Google Chrome and report back here.
If it shows an update is available, update and test again and see if you get the same results.

Thanks,

Martin

Hi,

As an update, I have discovered an issue with Chrome on version 63.0.3239.108 on some computers that affects
audio output on all WebRTC applications including the appr.tc test app.

The cause is an audio routing bug on systems with multiple available audio output devices.

As a workaround users can do the following:

On the vMix (Host) side
1. Setup a call in vMix and add an input such as music so that it is playing to the caller.

On the guest side running Chrome
1. Connect to the call in Chrome from vmixcall.com
2. From the Start Menu search for Sound and open the Sound Control Panel window.
3. From the Playback Tab you should see a different device with an audio level other than the default device with the tick box.
4. Right click this device and select Disable.
5. Try reconnected the vMix Call, if you still do not hear audio, repeat steps 1-4 disabling all unused devices.
Eventually Chrome will select the correct device.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Martin

Sorry - perhaps it is a silly Question - but what does "setup a call in Chrome" mean? which is mentionend in step 1?

Hi there,
an update from our side: we also encountered another Problem with the Picture Rate on the guest PC working with Chrome (latest update) - the picture freezes and the guest only gets a picture every 5 to 10 seconds or so... The same guest, some minutes before with Firefox, same setup, same connection: no Problem.
After using Chrome for the test and having the issue above, we tried to go back to firefox. But there was no chance working with firefox again, because Chrome was still "holding" the webcam on the guest pc. No way to release the cam with task-manager or things like that.
After a real reboot it worked again with firefox. Obviously there is a bug in chrome which makes a lot of problems in combination with vMix-Call / WebRTC on sound and (!) image!
So at the moment it looks like Firefox is the better choice for vMix-Call.
Anyone else the same experience / results?
