When you cut your audio in via the mute it comes in BOOM. You need to slide the fader to get a smooth transition in for the audio.
It would be helpful if there was a way to 'transition' the audio in via a button, fade in / out.
I am a one man band content creator. I do a live show 'Streaming Idiots(old skool style)' 1 Guy, 1 PC, and 1 "getting" AWESOME SHOW. When I need to bring audio in or out my only option is to JUMP CUT the audio via a master mute or a level mute.
Ideally I could create a 'fade in / out' for the master and assign it to a button then I could have a smooth sounding start and end.
I don't think this is possible at any level of the product. If it is available at a certain level please let me know, I am currently on Basic HD and pushing it to the limits in every way.
I find the limitations are making me more creative and also teaching me more every day. In the future when I do have more than 4 inputs I am excited for the insanity I can create.
Have an awesome day everyone.

+1 for a "Soft In" / "Soft Out" pair of checkboxes on the Audio Settings -> General tab.

Yes, even when un-muting a presenters mic and their not speaking there still is the ambient audio, air con, traffic, that can clunk in with a hard switch on.
Maybe a global parameter to define the fade time in and out on all mute functions with zero being as it is now or just a fixed 200ms or 0 checkbox.

+ 1 I think a classic example of where this could be most effective is the most recent edition of "vMix Fun Time Live Show" (August) when Tim plays the video bumpers announcing new features for vMix 18, the lovely BG track ends so abruptly once they cut back to the "Live" camera it is auditorily jarring for the viewer: ?t=10m41s Now I realize that some of this may be the result of the actual video clip ending abruptly, but the point is, a smoother transition (Soft Out) of the audio track would be more aesthetically pleasing to the ear, making for a more professional presentation. If the clip ends abruptly, there is not much you can do about that, but if you are cutting IN and/or OUT of a playing clip, a Soft IN and Soft OUT would be beneficial. Also, using a "Trigger" for "On Completion" would benefit with a similar Soft OUT transition a second or so prior to the end of the clip. Just some thoughts. Ice

Hi,
What you heard in the live show as an abrupt cut in the sound of the video file itself, so we'll make sure when putting these video together to avoid that in the future.
As far as vMix goes, any change in the audio is always done with a small audio fade, (including cuts and mute/unmite). We might allow the duration of this fade to be adjusted in the future, but it is already in there so any sudden audio cuts should theoretically only be the result of hard cuts done in the videos themselves.
Regards,
Martin vMix

I guess that since many of us would would like to hear (sic!) the fade, what currently might be there is not sufficient. In some scenarios it is possible to pre-produce video and audio clips where fades are edited in. But we tend to find ourselfes in situations where the clips have to be used as they are (with hard starts/ends). And believe me, it is quite annoying when a video clip leaves "Output" with an abrupt sound kill. So any improvement would be most appreciated. Makes our producer look like an amateur ;) I think that at least a "Audio fade in/out time" setting for each input (with audio) would be a fantastic thing. Implemented in such a fashion that the Audio fade works even when it's input is used in a Multiview Input. EDIT: Been looking around for similar request, and found the old topic AUDIO FADE.

Martin, a soft cut, which is what I think you are referring to (presumably as a way to prevent a digital click at the cut point) is a completely different thing to an audio fade used as a creative tool. vMix currently cannot create the bog standard effect that we all see on TV every day when the audio from an intro continues after the end of the video transition. This really has to be one of the most important feature requests at present. Bit frustrating to see VST plugin integration but no audio fade function. If it is technically difficult to achieve this then no problem I will continue to look for work arounds but please, even telling us your current thinking on this issue would at least give some sense of progress. Many thanks for an amazing product! Fascinating to see how Wirecast and Livestream are both struggling to keep up with vMix these days.

+1 but I understand there's quite a big issue - do we want the dictated fade before or after the cut. with a video, you want it before so the video fades down but it's not possible on the programme side to accurately tell when the videos going to end, and then if we want it to fade from say an interview that would be an after cut fade - which doesn't solve the hard cut video problem.. ideally we would like an audio fade behind a stinger which I think avoids all this

Quote:some requests are 7 years old in here Yeah but many of them have been addressed since. So adding your +1 for a satisfied FR is pretty much useless...
