Hello together,

I just discovered that I can't generate a NDI screen capture with NDI ScanConverter or vMixDesktopCapture for Mac anymore. Both programs run on my Mac but I don't get a signal in vMix on my PC as well as with the NDI Studio Monitor on the same PC. My NDI Spark Connects run fine with vMix. Has anyone discovered the same problem with macOS? Some OS update which broke features?

Thanks for any hint...

Regards
Seb

No one with a similar problem? I tried again with vMix 20.0.42, no firewall on Mac or Windows 10. I didn't get any NDI signal from my Mac. Any help? Any idea where to look? I use that feature often and would really like to have it working again...

Are the systems able to ping either other? Can NDI Studio Monitor on OSX see some NDI output from the PC?

When you say that apps on the PC can see the NDI source on the Mac? Do the sources even appear for you to choose, but just don't work after that? Or do no choices show up to even choose?

I'm seeing the same behavior as above:

vMix running on Windows 10
No Windows Defender Firewall

vMix Desktop Capture on macOS Sierra
No Firewall

Same LAN network, wired. Mac can ping Windows machine and vice versa.

However, in the NDI/Desktop Capture, I'm not seeing any sources show up and I don't see any options to change anything in the VMix Desktop Capture app.

Guys,

In my case it was my error!

You have to have vMix Desktop Screen Capture on the Mac going. That is what creates the NDI source for vMix to pick up.

One of things that confused me

* vMix Desktop Screen Capture is so good that it actually creates multiple options to select (1 being Quicktime Player) which made me think it wasn't screen capture as it would have just been 1 feed.

Working perfect now.

I tested again and it seems, that it doesn't work over Wifi but with Ethernet connection of Mac and vMix PC. I will test again next week and hopefully give detailled feedback. But I'm absolutely sure, that it worked in a Wifi environment before, that doesn't work anymore...

WiFi performance can be an issue at times. NDI needs to deliver frames in time, if WiFi performance is too low, the frames will not get thru in time and you will not get anything.

Usually in most WiFi cases you will get some dropped frames, but enough that things are usable for screen sharing. What is your WiFi speed and how much other traffic is in the environment around you?
