For about a month now, we've been streaming to Youtube, Twitter/Periscope and Facebook with major problems. We're running Windows 10 with vmix version 20.0.0.30. We connect to Facebook using this tutorial (https://www.vmix.com/knowledgebase/article.aspx/93/how-do-i-stream-to-facebook-live-with-vmix) and Twitter and Youtube via the stream settings page. Most recently, we've added Easy Stand Alone which is a DMX lighting controller to the same computer that we are running vmix on.

Before we added the controller, our computer started acting up. It keeps crashing. We would stream for 15 minutes, and then we would receive the blue screen of death. Each time it crashes (at least 3 times during each church service), it gives us a different error message making it really hard to pinpoint exactly what the problem is! Here is a summary of our system:

Code:

OS Name	Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

I have no idea where to start troubleshooting this so decided to post it in the forum. Any help would be very appreciated. It's so frustrating I want to pull my hair out.

Try running this software, which will identify the culprit:

Thanks for the resource! I ran the program and the following drivers are crashing:
win32kbase.sys : Base Win32k Kernel Driver
ntoskrnl.exe : NT Kernel & System
tcpip.sys : TCP/IP Driver

To be honest, I'm not sure what to do from hear. Each of the crashes ends in this ambiguous error:
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.

Where do I go from here? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I read over this article, however, I don't think that we are are. In an unrelated point, I did the Windows memory test, and my memory came back clean. At this point, I've updated all drivers on the computer. I'm currently testing by going on private in our setting. I shall let everyone know how this session goes by the end of the day.

Hi Everyone,

So, this issue is becoming quite erratic. I have updated every.single.driver on this computer. I start streaming and then everything goes well for 1 hour. After an hour, the computer crashes again... I'm really confused as to what my problem could be here... Is there anything else that I should be checking out?

Is this a self-built system or a specific brand? How old? If a brand, then, of course, contact the manufacturer directly.

If self-built, please identify the motherboard brand & model number, the graphics card, and the CPU cooler used. When you built it, did you install all or some of the drivers from the CD that came from the motherboard? Did you install Windows 10 from a Microsoft-branded CD or other method?

If it is a case of mysterious glitches, it can be very frustrating for sure. It may be easier to wipe your main drive and reload the drivers from the motherboard CD and reinstall Windows 10.

1) Reseat RAM and cards.

2) Check cables on drives.

If everything works fine, and then it has an issue after an hour, perhaps it's a cooling/temperature issue. My editing computer was doing that once. Simply opening it up, vacuuming and blowing out all the dust from the PS and water cooler solved the issue.

Also check to make sure your power supply is working properly. If it's not a cooling/temperature issue, then go with Tom's and kjones9999's suggestions. Maybe you have motherboard that wants to fail.

Are you streaming to all services at once? If so try to just stream to one service at a time and see if it makes any difference

I would also check for heat problems. With a free program like HWmonitor, you can check all the temperatures inside the computer, to check if something overheats. It wouldn't be the first pc that slowly builds up heat on for example the videocard, and crashes on it.

Try adding a separate NIC to the box. Should be able to pick one up for cheap.

There are ok cards for $10-15USD or get a better one for $30USD:

This also sounds like possible hardware to me.

One of my systems would randomly crash and although within spec the fans ran hard most of the time.

Having tried all the easy stuff I took the CPU cooler of and found that somehow it had become unseated on the COU and was only half touching the chip.

Fresh thermal compound and a careful re-seat and it worked fine and much cooler.

The most bizarre thing is this machine hadn't been moved or knocked before this started, weird.

Dont use the encoder built into vmix it pulls lots of ram ....Use a external software much better choice on a another pc

The BSOD indicates there is a hardware issue with your PC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death

You can start diagnosing it here: https://support.microsof...shoot-blue-screen-errors

Though you may have figured it out, there's a few points I'd like to present.

First, is it running on a laptop? If so, you do need to get a proper desktop. Streaming is processor intense (ffmpeg). Also, if you are streaming to multiple services, it's even more intense. I've written streaming software also, using ffmpeg, and it's probably the best video transcoder out there, as I said, it's memory and cpu hungry.

Next, the bsod's start only after a while. That's heat for sure! Power supply, and ram could be the likely culprits. With the recommendation of not doing this on a laptop, when you build out the desktop - over deliver on power with the power supply. If you think you need 1,000 watts, put in 1,400 watts. You always want at least a 20 to 30% window before the ceiling on power.

Sometimes it just a flaky system.

Hope that helps.
