I just finished watching your first 4K 60p stream (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbmQSe9xkr8). Very impressive - congrats!

The green screen looked really good. I know that both the GH5 and the AVX200 can output 4K 4:2:2 10-bit, which can be helpful to get a really professional looking green screen effect, and it seems both the Magewell and the Yuan card support input at those color sampling and depths as well.

So, I was wondering what color format you were using for your live show. If it wasn't 422 10-bit, how does 422 10-bit work? Does VMix support that color sampling and depth for the actual green screen processing (even if final output is 420 8-bit), and does it pose any problems for the Obsidian system? Thanks.

For our show we actually used 8-bit 4:2:0 from both cameras.

GH5: Supports 10-bit 4:2:2, however Yuan did not accept the signal, so output was set to 8-bit 4:2:0.
DVX200: Supports 10-bit 4:2:2 only at 24p, 8-bit 4:2:2 at 29.97p, outputs 8-bit 4:2:0 at 59.94p which was then input into the Magewell.

vMix itself supports up to 8-bit 4:2:2 from most capture cards and then upscales this to 32-bit floating point 4:4:4 for all video processing
which helps a lot with things like chroma key processing.

thanks 1 user thanked admin for this useful post.

Thanks for the quick and detailed reply.

You mentioned the Yuan didn't accept the GH5 signal at 422. If you have a chance, would you mind testing the GH5 to Magewell at 4K 60p 422? I wonder if that card would work properly accept the signal.

Also interested in it. I use GH5 for my productions, and would like to get a new capture card which supports full power of the beast :)

thanks

Hi, I'm reviving this discussion because I'm in the process of figuring out all the same things. GH5 can output some REALLY NICE COLOR over HDMI! Now I'm trying to confirm a few things. Will the magewell 4k hdmi capture card pickup the GH5 4:2:2 8/10bit color. Can vmix make use of these high bit rate frame/color formats (Admin answered above I think).

From magewell's website: http://www.magewell.com/...pro-capture-hdmi-4k-plus
Support for capture image resolutions up to 4096x2160 pixels
Support for capture frame rates up to 144fps (Actual capture frame rate can be limited by PCIe bandwidth & image resolution)
Support for 4:2:0 8-bit capture formats: NV12, I420, YV12
Support for 4:2:2 8-bit capture formats: YUY2, YUYV, UYVY
Support for 4:4:4 8-bit capture formats: V308, IYU2, V408, BGR24, BGR32
Support for 4:4:4 10-bit capture formats: V410, Y410
More capture formats are supported via Magewell Capture SDK for DirectKS

I plan on ordering one of these magewell cards, and renting a gh5s for testing!

I went and check official specs from Panasonic. https://www.panasonic.co...meras/dc-gh5l.specs.html

In the interface -> hdmi -> monitor through section:
4:2:2 10-bit (When [Rec Quality] is set to [4:2:2 10bit] or when [Rec Quality] is set to [4K/60p]/[4K/50p] and [4K/60p Bit Mode]/[4K/50p Bit Mode] is set to [4:2:2 10bit]. When [4K/60p]/[4K/50p] mode is selected in [Rec Quality], it is not possible to record motion picture or still picture on the SD memory card in the camera unit.)/4:2:2 8bit (When [Rec Quality] is set to [4:2:0 8bit], except for [4K 60p]/[4K/50p])/4:2:0 8bit (When [Rec Quality] is set to [4K/60p]/[4K/50p] and [4K/60p Bit Mode]/[4K/50p Bit Mode] is set to [4:2:0 8bit].)/Auto / 4K/30p/25p / 1080p / 1080i / OFF/Information display ON/OFF (selectable)/Automatic down-conversion/HLG View Assist (HDMI) AUTO / MODE1 / MODE2 / OFF (selectable)

maybe this suggests that we can only get 4:2:2 8bit with 4k/30p or less?
