I appreciate this is a vMix forum but I'm just after a quick answer relating to my set up.
Has anyone tested using a Canon 205 and set the camera to Mpeg4 1920x1080 50p and sent that out via SDI? Note in mxf mode this camera like the Canon 305s we also use it only outputs 1280x720 50P.
I use 3 cameras with vMix. 2x Canon 305s and the Canon 205. We have a Black Magic Quad and an Intensity Pro. Both work fine but don't do 1920x1080 50P so this will mean an upgrade to the Quad 2.
We have been running 720 50P and it's all fine but now would like to up it to 1080 50P as people purchase Mpeg4 copies from us either on USB or via a Google Drive download.
I guess I just want my customers to experience the very best picture quality outside 4K.
We are just coming out of an intense season of Aussie Rules Football Grand Finals which saw us live stream 15 Grand Finals over 4 weekends and everything has been great either vMix as solid as a rock.
People often ask how do we get such smooth looking pictures and I'm convinced its because we use the one frame rate the whole way so no converting happens within vMix.
The 305s as much as I love those cameras only outputs 1080 25P which for sport looks horrible in my opinion.
Yes it does 1080 50i but that's a no go zone.
So if 1080 50p in Mpeg4 mode works with a quad 2 then my options are to get another two 205 or the new Canon 405 or perhaps the Sony X160 which has a 25x Zoom and does 1080 50P.
I prefer bigger cameras so the Sony is tempting.

Hi Duff, You can also look at the BM Duo 2 rather than the quad, or the Multi input SDI cards form Magewell/Yuan/AJA.
