Hi,

Are there any plans on supporting higher bitrates when calling from one vMix to another? From what I understand, 4Mb/s 1080 is max as it is now.

Vmix call has many advantages (for me) over Medialooks and NDIcloud. So it's a good proposal, I think 10Mbit can be a good maximum bitrate for 1080.

I saw that, thanks!
I'm looking for a setup that requires minimal knowledge and setup time on one end, so if you could just open a vMix file and have everything set up like you need, that would be perfect.

I believe that vMix Call leverages Appr.tc for part of it's functionality. https://Appr.tc is the webrtc reference app for point-to-point video chat. It's quite useful to know how it works.

You can use the app standalone to create video calls. You can further specify a large number of parameters via the URL, to control aspects of the call. It's not clear to me if there's a maximum bit rate, but 8 mb/s is cited as an example setting.

Of course, that's the part that's not internal to vMix. vMix would need to support similarly high rates.

I think this needs to be bumped. It would be great to use this instead of 3rd party applications to links studios over the internet.

Martin could even encourage people to upgrade by only allowing higher than 4mbit on the 4K or PRO version

Maybe 20mbit on the 4K and up to 80mbit on the PRO.

If we want vMix to replace a lot of hardware in a broadcast environment then a higher bitrate is needed.

Of course VBR needs to be used in case there is congestion

Yes I have used Medialooks but not everyone can afford $150 per channel and NDI cloud doesn't even have download links on their product pages. Last time I tried setting it up it didn't work. Way too messy.

Bump it! It' s good idea, there is a many situations when the higher bitrate van be usefull. So big plus 1!

We must be mindful of the underlying fundamentals of WebRTC. The most recent updates to App.RTC show that 4K and even 8K are possible. It's also possible to set a target bitrate for video streams in/out.

However, WebRTC fundamentally targets the browser as a client. There may well be limits on what can be achieved, making alternative solutions better suited to high bit-rate links.
