Sending On screen messages to the External Output

Hi,
Is there an way of sending an on screen message to the External output screen from vMix?
For example, the External Output feeds a monitor that footy commentators use to call a game of Aussie Rules football. If the vMix Operator/Director wants to send a message to them, it would be ideal to have a message pop up on the monitor that only they can read and NOT be transmitted to the live stream/output of vMix.
Any advice would be appreciated.
With thanks, Gerard

Hi Gerard first remember that EXTERNAL out is the same as PROGRAM out. So using EXT2 (or new vMix out 3 & 4) is the way to go. It's quite easy to do. It only requires to use API commands like "SetOutputExternal2" which allow you to switch any input anytime to EXT2. It also possible to use SetOutputFullscreen2 if you don't use for something else already. You can do this using shortcuts obviously or vMix UTC for example. I did a demo video for using vMix UTC as an independent switcher for EXT2. Here it is: https://forums.vmix.com/...ts&m=34998#post34998I already used this for sending production clocks, prompter's text, alerts or information to confidence monitors for the people on stage to see. Pretty much the same thing... Hope this helps Guillaume

Hi Guillaume,
Thank you for the reply - it was very informative! I have been reading up on it and watching your YouTube clips. I hope to test it out in the next few weeks and will report back my experience in this thread. Thanks again. Cheers Gerard

Hi Guillaume,
I followed the video but have a problem.
I've selected the vMixUTCNDIMonitorDataProvider.dll but can't select an input in External2 Monitor (no list visible)
In vMix Additional NDI Outputs > Cameras / Calls / Audio Inputs is NDI enabled.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Merci beaucoup!

Salut Rudy First make sure your vMix licence supports EXT2 (I think yours does it lucky winner!) Did you activate NDI for EXT2 in vMix settings ? https://www.vmix.com/help20/SettingsOutputs.htmlIf you did, just check that Newtek's NDI Monitor can play that feed. If it can, it should work in UTC... Keep us posted Guillaume

Hi DWAN,
A follow up to my original question....
Can the text be send to a Full Screen output (NOT external output 2)?
I Say this, because an Full Screen output is 1) less lag on the PC and more of an instantaneous output and 2) it doesn't tie up one of your SDI/HDMI i/o on your capture cards.
Thanks again.
Cheers Gerard
