This video shows a quickly produced test to see if I can connect 8 different cameras to a notebook computer. I doubt I’d use this many cameras in a production, but it’s worth experimenting to see if I can come up with a connection topology that actually lets each camera connect. For your entertainment:

I did a similar test but what I use are usb 3.0 cature card and Sony professional cams
my laptop is Dell Precision M3510 witch has 3 usb 3.0 ports and 1 usb type C port
The laptop can only support 3 cams at 1080p ( 2 usb 3.0 and 1 usb type C) but, If i change the cam output format to 720p or 1080i, 5 cams are fine! (sorry I only have 5 usb capture card)
I think the limits is about the mother board usb bus bandwidth
and I think the PCs usb bus bandwith must better than laptop so it can support more usb capture cards, but I have not did that test yet
