We are looking to move from tricaster 40's to a custom built vmix system built on an i7 7700 with an nvidia 1060 gpu. We do live events that can last 9 to 13 hours. Most events we stream use two SD cameras and stream at 1Mbs. Does anyone here have experience in streaming events of that length. If so please let us know your how implementation of vMix performs.

TIA
JOsh

Hi Josh and welcome to the forum!
I think you'll find your proposed set-up falls well within vMix's capabilities and it looks like you may have already looked at vMix's Reference Ruby system specs:

http://www.vmix.com/prod...erence-systems.aspx#ruby

There are many users who have used vMix over an extended period of time (10+ hours per day over several days) and I would recommend you look through the "Showcase" thread to get a glimpse of what some of them have done (if you haven't already). BMX Racing and US Curling come to mind off hand for multi day events, but there are literally more and more events going on all the time with more elaborate vMix set-ups than what you've described above (most recently Go Cart Racing I think).
My main question to you at this point would be what camera's are you using and how were you planning on 'capturing' them into the PC?

Thank you for the information

We will be buying two Canon XA25. I will also purchase a black magic DeckLink Duo 2 card to capture the content.

Regards,
Josh

Hello

I stream long events. 8+ hours horse auctions. Vmix works great just run it on a reliable computer and try not to multitask. Check your emails on another computer. Keep and eye on background software like virus scanners and Windows update. Those should be off when streaming.

The Canon XA25 only outputs 720p 59.94 (or 1080i) via its BNC connector, not 1080p 59.94.

This has been going for over a week. It's just an RTMP CCTV camera into vMix.

I was unable to use the VLC input because it kept stopping. So I use the vMix RTMP input.

thanks 1 user thanked mashynewie2 for this useful post.

Hi Josh,

Use do long stream. In december for an Euro of Bocce, in Nice (France), three days from 08h00 to 23h00

Using 5 Cameras Canon HF M56 enter > Atem Television Studio enter > Magewell USB3 enter > Acer Aspire E 15, I3, 1,7 Ghz.

Record back-up on Asus from Atem Tevision Studio (only video, no sound, because sound is enter on Acer Aspire).

Program and somes vidéos can be see here, program at the end of the page. Only one problem with internet connexion (someone move the parabol !).

Some vidéos of other long streams can be see here.

Agree with what Speegs say.

Regards.

Hi Josh,

Last Saturday we did a 14 hours continuous live stream with the WOLS team (https://www.facebook.com/groups/WorldOfLiveStreaming/). Our stream can be found here:

Concerning vMix we didn't have any problems.

Be aware that when you stream to YouTube, the stream keeps going on but afterwards it's being cut off after 12 hours. It's best to stop the stream shortly at some point and restart it after a few seconds.

Kind regards,
Rudy

Using vMix as a playout system for a tv channel. Three months doing a stream and an external output. Have had 2 freezes all due to windows updates. It will have no issue.
