A proposal to add “Modifiers” (Alt, Ctrl, Shift) to the ‘Shortcuts’ dialog. To enable better and more flexibility with assigning shortcuts to functions, and to enable workflows more compatible with the Users other multimedia software. An additional benefit is the use of a separate USB Programmable Keyboard for those functions important to the smooth running of a production. There are numerous programmable POS and standard keyboards available that would suit the purpose. Flexibility is key. No pun intended.

I would really like to see modifier keys implemented.
There might also be a general preference checkbox for "allow modifier keys" and/or "case sensitive shortcuts", which if left unchecked would preserve backwards compatibility with existing shortcuts. So if someone had their caps lock key on and specifically did not want case sensitivity, the macros would still work. A combination of the two preferences would allow case insensitivity yet also allow alt and ctrl modifiers.

+1 Great idea. We ran into a perfect use case for this today. Given Xkeys is able capture modifier-based shortcuts, I'm hopeful this could be done by vMix.

To switch cameras we currently use the keys above the keyboard (1-5) using mix and the numpad (1-5) using cut. It would be a lot simpler to just be able to use CTRL or SHIFT for a different method of switching.

Giving a not so subtle bump for this request.
I REALLY REALLY want to be able to use keyboard modifiers with shortcuts.
At StreamCon, I explained the use case to Martin, mostly about my using a wireless keyboard as a camera controller (attached to a lathe in my shop or in another room, not next to a computer).
Having modifier keys would make this MUCH more useful. 2xx would be a great time to implement this.
So please consider this as a friendly reminder.

myshki)....
a good idea! taking into account the fact that on many MIDI controllers (compatible) there is a button, a shifter or a change of the act! it would be very good if the control of the pre-programmed buttons changes when this button is pressed. and also that the color group can also be switched using the console (now it can only be done with the mouse) ....

+1 Even if it is quicker, the ability to type in the key, eg SHIFT + W
Currently SHIFT and W are in the picklist, but you can't select them. Maybe that is quicker than modifying the dialogue box.
