We all of a sudden have run into a major glitch this morning when we tried to stream our service. Both cameras are flashing at random times or completely going out. (This happens as soon as you open vMix or even in Blackmagic media express. It is also cutting out audio which is being inputed through camera one input on one of the Blackmagic 4K intensity cards. These are 2 separate cards and both are doing it randomly as seen in the video. Cameras are being run over HDMI and have been fine for months. If I plug the HDMI of the camera directly into one of our monitors it works fine so I know it is not the cable or camera. I tried updating the blackmagic cards to the latest firmware and same results. I tried reseating cards and even tried just one card to see if it was one or the other causing the issue but I got the same results. I dont know what else to try. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the video link since it would not upload.

The specs on our machine are as follows:

Win7 Pro SP1 latest release
I7 4790 processor
16GB Ram DDR3
500GB Samsung 850EVO SSD
Nvidia GTX960 4GB Video Card
2 Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K HDMI Capture Cards

Since this anomaly can be seen in Media Express, then you know it is not a vMix issue. It is happening before the video gets to Media Express.

Try...

1. Updating the Nvidia driver.
2. Rolling back the BMD driver to pre 10.9.3
3. Checking for recent Windows updates. Uninstall any made since the last know proper operation
4. Doing a System Restore to a past date when you are certain the problem did not exist.

Fingers crossed!

Do you have a USB 3.0 capture device such as a Magewell XI100DUSB-HDMI to test the video input to vMix with to see if the flashing problem persists?

Perhaps the power supply in your system is beginning to fail. I've see bad PS cause strange problems.

It is funny you said the power supply because I was thinking the same thing. The supply is only 8 months old and i it is a 750watt Corsair. I may order in another one to be sure if updating the other drivers do not work.

You may have a ground loop. Run the cameras on batteries and see what happens or plug
them directly into vmix with a short hdmi cable and power them from the same outlet as vMix.

Peter B they are actually powered up into the same UPS as the computer. They are remote mounted PTZ cameras. They work fine plugged directly into the computer monitors HDMI input just not through the computer itself.
Thanks

So how are you powering the PTZ cameras?

Try temporarily bypassing the UPS, somethings changed. Maybe run the system from
the UPS battery.

Did firmware update on video card and thought it did it but after about 10 minutes it starts cutting out again. Any other suggestions?

They are Hikvision DS-2DF5220S-DE4/W cameras http://www.hikvision.com...ducts_1_10566_i8493.html
being powered up by supplied 12VDC 2 Amp power supplies.
We are strictly using HDMI output. At 720P 60
The cameras work fine plugged directly into my computer monitors and it was working fine for the last 8 months.

it is very strange. The weird thing is as quickly as it comes on the problem will sometimes just stop. Last night after it freaked out
During a streaming session and we stopped it 20 minutes later it was fine and we were able to stream for the rest of the service (about 40 minutes)
The fact that it is intermittent is the hardest part.

OK. So you need to do some isolation testing. Start with the cables. The camera appears to have SDI connectors as well as HDMI. Get an SDI cable and see if the same symptoms occur. If it does we now eliminate the Capture card. Try a different capture card. If you can borrow a Magewell. In fact Tom Sinclair will probably be able to rent you one for a week to test. If the same symptoms occur you know it is not the BM cards. Next try a different computer with the BM cards etc. No easy way to do this unfortunately, it is a slow and painstaking process.

How long are your HDMI runs? Are you using active cables?

It seems to me to be a weak HDMI signal.

KJones I would agree with you if I had the same issue when plugged into the monitors directly.
The 2 cables are a 7.5 Meter non active cable and a 15 Meter active cable. These are higher end 4K capable cables.
We tried again this morning and everything was fine for about 30 min and then they started acting up. After about 15 minutes of acting up they cleared up. It is just really weird that all of a sudden I am having this issue and it was fine for about 9 months.
Thanks for the input

Ask thanks for the input. Yeah I was figuring it is going to be a tough one to isolate. I was figuring that if it was the cables I would have the same issue when plugged directly into a monitor?? I may bring in my computer from home and try that with the BM cards and see what happens. Unfortunately getting extra encoder cards to test is not easy. Who is the person that rents cards?

Thanks
Craig

After todays service I decided to look at the event log to see if it might shed some light. I am tech savvy to a point but I am not sure about these findings. Anyone have any input if the errors that are popping up could be related. I have not done the memory test yet since I cannot do that remotely.
Let me know if anyone has any input.
Thanks
Craig
