I am a newbee with this program. It seems awesome. I was able to set up the inputs I needed. Followed directions to integrate my Mackie USB board according to the VMix User's manual. In VMIX everything looks great an sounds great. It looks like it should work. However, I get no audio from any devices when I try to record. I have not tried to stream because I want to take care of this error first.

I saved the profile I just mentioned and tried to start fresh. On this new profile, I added only my usb controlled mic. Get echo that I can't correct. No webcam here, just the mic. Don't know if these 2 problems are related. I will purchase this software once I know it will work for me.

I think I need the assistance of someone who can help me with this set up.

Trying to incorporate Webcam, USB Mixer and Mic, and an external DJ program into VMIX.

If someone will tell me what they need to help with this situation, I will provide.

Thanks.....................michaelrb

@ michaelrb

First of all, welcome to the forum!
The fact that you are getting an "echo" concerns me and leads me to believe there might be an audio routing issue somewhere in your chain that is causing the feedback.
As ovinas mentions, a screen shot will help, as well as a schematic of your routing set-up.
The USB audio interface between the computer and the external mixer is sometimes bi-directional and needs to be managed properly (not that that is your issue with the recording not having audio, as that is probably a setting somewhere as mentioned above, but getting the audio right is critical for any production).

I followed Ovinas's recommendations and I can now record....with some side issues. When I actually speak into my mic, I get an echo that does not appear when I listen to the recording. The recording is fine. I tried to follow vmix instructions for integrating my mixer into vmix. The directions asked for me to assign bus A, not Master to audio (Page 104 and 105 of manual). When I switched to Master, I was able to record with the limitations stated.

In addition, I use a free DJ program for my audio (Mixx) and the sound for that program isn't captured by VMIX. Creat a new audio input?

Please provide a little bit more information.

USB Mixer: Mackie Model?
Mic: Connected to the Mackie mixer or is it the USB Mic.? Or one connected to the mixer + USB Mic.? What else is connected to the mixer (inputs/outputs)?
DJ program: On the same PC as vMix? Or second PC?

The mixer is a Mackie ProFX 12. The mic is connected to the mixer, it is not a usb mic. Also attached is Blue Driver that uses a mic input on the mixer and attaches to a cell phone via bluetooth so I can take calls. Might go for the vmix calls if that's a better solution. The DJ program is on the same PC as VMix. That program gets routed into the mixer via USB codex. Not sure if drivers for this program can be picked up by VMix. See screenshot for options.

Should I keep the Bus A stuff, or get rid of it and change everything back to Master for all audio settings?

Here is a screen shot of the DJ Programs and some of its audio options.

How's your audio going to the cell phone?
How do you listen to your audio? Speakers/Headphones connected to the Mackie or to the PC?

Everything with the Blue Driver occurs via the mixing board. The unit plugs into a mic input. The unit itself sends the callers voice to me via the mixing board (via bluetooth pairing between my cell phone and the Blue Driver). The caller hears me because on my microphone pod I am sending my voice to the effects send on the Mackie, and the Blue Driver has a mic input. Works pretty well.

I listen to audio via the mixing board. Phones out to headset, and mic in on the board.

Integrating this Bluetooth interface into your workflow will be a real challenge with the equipment you have. You should really consider to use vMix Call for that. There's only one way to make this work without getting a loop somewhere in the chain. But I will come back to this later. Let's focus on the other stuff.

I prefer to use the Master audio bus just for recording and streaming. For other routings including audio hardware outputs I use bus A and B.

To get the audio output from your DJ software into vMix you need a virtual audio cable. Download this package:
http://vbaudio.jcedevelo...BCABLE_Driver_Pack43.zip
Unzip it to a folder and open the VBCABLE_Setup_x64.exe with admin rights.
Reboot, open the DJ software and go to Preferences --> Sound Hardware --> Output and set the Master to 'CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)'

In vMix set the audio output for the Master to none. This will be the bus for streaming and recording and doesn't need to be routed to hardware.
Set the audio output for Headphones to none. You're using the headphones connected to the Mackie.
Set the audio output for Bus A to the Mackie (Bus B = none).
Add an audio input for your Mackie. Be sure that this is not routed to bus A.
Any other vMix input with audio (videos...) should be routed to M and A.
Add an audio input and choose 'CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)'. Route it to M and A. This is the audio from the DJ software.
Be sure that the "USB Thru" button on the Mackie is not pressed/engaged.
Set the PC audio volume with the "USB Input Level" knob on the Mackie.

Take care what inputs you want to be always active or auto mixed: http://www.vmix.com/help19/Mixer.html

Now it should all work without having loops and echo.

If you really want to use your Bluetooth interface:
Go to vMix settings --> Audio Outputs and set Bus B to your Mainboard audio.
Route all inputs to send to your caller to Bus B. Do not route the Mackie input to B.
Connect your Mainboard audio output to a stereo line in on the Mackie e.g. channel 5/6.
Set the gain correctly: Page 3 of the Mackie manual.
Mute this channel, leave the fader down, just set the 'Mon' knob to 'U'.
Set the 'Mon' knob on channel 1 (Microphone) to 'U'. Do not turn the 'Mon' knob on channel 3 (Blue Driver), leave it at 0.
Change the cable connected to 'FX Send' to 'Mon Send'. Control the audio level to your caller with the 'Mon' fader.

Have fun...

Thanks. Will check this out over the weekend. Would using skype be a better option than the Blue Driver? Want to make it easy for listeners to call. I'm only interested in audio for these calls, video isn't important at this time.

Not really because you have to install and configure another set of virtual audio cable. With vMix Call it's all built in including automatic mix minus.

Thanks again. Would the configuration for a Skype virtual cable just be Skype audio in from my mic and virtual cable 2 out to VMix? (virtual cable 1 is for my external DJ, virtual cable 2 for Skype ) Then on VMIX create an input that uses virtual cable 2?
