I thought I would try out vMix.

I already have a WinFastDTV1000S TV tuner / analog video capture card in my PC. I can injest video and display it in a window on my PC using the WinFast utility.

I can not get it to work with vMix.
Any suggestions.

I have put a couple of screen grabs on my blog here.

Are you running "vMix" or "vMix (x64)"?

Try your capture card using GraphEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/GraphEdit), which is about as close to DirectShow as you can get. If your card doesn't work with GraphEdit, you have an issue with Leadtek drivers.

Hi,

What resolution and system have you selected?
Try different options until you find one that the capture card supports.

Hi Martin,

I think the problem with the winfast card is that it defaults to some other input and not the composite input. Possibly the S video or the TV tuner.

If I use the winfast utility to view the source, then I see a picture. With VLC I can also view video but to get it to display I have to select the composite input as the source from inside VLC. There is a configure window that VLC makes available that vMix does not appear to provide. It would seem to me that Winfast should supply a tool that allows one to select the source but that does not take the video stream thus preventing it from being used by other programs. Winfast is supposed to use a hand held remote that I do not have connected and perhaps that is a work around.

For now, giving up on the winfast.

I will read through the forums and look for capture card options. Eventually I want about half a dozen analogue inputs and probably about the same digital (some SDI some HDMI).

I also need to get an idea of how many inputs are practically achievable using a PC.

An option with the analogue inputs is to just have 2 channels of capture in the PC and put an 8x2 preselecter switch in front of them.
With the digital inputs, It would be more convenient to run them straight in so that I can make use of the multiview capability of vMix. This will be dependent on how many can be practically installed without the PC crashing or the video becoming delayed or jerky.

My application btw is live video of bands to big screens beside the stage.

That such a friend, your problem I have said on other subjects related to the capture cards that have a Conexant chipset, these chips to work with you to change them vMix driver but what is? that's hard to find but the solution is to install the "Active web cam" and immediately detects your cards and they change the driver for appropriate and thus vMix and can handle them, try to do and see that you worked

Ah ha we have success.
I missed the place in vMix where I could select the input and the video format.
Fixed that and we are all good.

I updated my blog here.
(Is there a way to upload pictures to this forum?)

The next thing to work out is how I get video out. I am hoping I can send it out the second monitor on my pc. That could be conencted to a projector.
