I've got a problem recording to DVcodec.

Background:
2 Panasonic DVX100B in to 2 BM Intensity pro. I've got a Decklink Duo installed in the box, but have not yet installed the driver for it.

I've recorded 4 sessions this weekend (about 60min each) where everything went smoothely and the video looks ok.

Today I recorded as I did the previous days and got a strange result. The video records a still every 15-20s and shows that for the mentioned time. Audio works fine.

I will upload an example to Vimeo for you to see what I mean.

Any ideas on where I went wrong?
It has happened to me twice now, both times in critical circumstances, recording a sermon. Argh!

Also...
Everytime I record something, the sound is recorded but the last 25% of the recorded sound do not show up in Premiere pro. Any thoughts on that?

Otherwise, I love vMix :-)

Hi,

Please upload an example of the pausing issue so I can investigate further. Are you using the new vMix 2011 Beta?

As for the audio, does the last 25% of the sound show up when playing the file directly in media player?

Thanks,

Martin

The problem can be seen here (audio in Swedish):

http://vimeo.com/19888311

I'm not using the beta. Unfortunately I dont have the computer with the problem here right now, it is at church and I'm home :) I downloaded the latest release less than 2 months ago.

I'm not sure about the audio. I'll try to get to church soon again and check it.

Thanks!
Petter

Thanks,

If I am seeing the video correctly, it looks like you uploading it from the point it starts showing still frames, and they continue for the rest of the recording?
I would recommend trying the vMix 2011 Beta, as it contains a lot of improvements in this area.

Thank you!

I will definately try the new Beta, fun all around!

I've got about .5s of moving pictures before they freeze up in the original. We did a test recording 20min before the actual recording of about 1.5min that went well. Strange...

Ok, I've checked the recordings now and you are right, the audio do show up in windows mediaplayer but not in Premiere.

Any thoughts on that?

Here is a method to resync the AVI file, which will hopefully improve the import process in Premiere:

1. Download the free VirtualDub http://www.virtualdub.org/
2. Open the AVI file in VirtualDub
3. From Video menu select "Direct Stream Copy"
4. From Audio menu select "Direct Stream Copy"
5. Go to File -> Save as AVI and save to a new File.

The new file should now be readable in Premiere with all the audio intact.

VirtualDub also has the ability to adjust the delay of the audio track from the Audio -> Interleaving menu.
(Called Audio Skew Correction)

Hope this is helpful.
