Hi All,

I've acquired an MSI GS73-VR laptop which runs vMix beautifully when on mains power but when I pull the mains ans switch to battery power performance takes a huge dip. When just processing the in built webcam at 720p 30fps the render time goes from 2ms to about 150ms, it also happens when going in to BMD minirecorder with 1080i 50 via thunderbolt. Global format and framerate matches input. Powerplan is set to high performance and I've forced vMix to use the nvidia gtx 1060 on both mains and battery. I've also installed the MSI power management utility to force it in to high performance mode when on battery.

I ideally need to maintain performance when on battery in case I lose mains during a stream.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks.

i7 7700HQ
16GB Ram
nVidia GTX 1060
128GB SSD

There is a simple solution, use an UPS-device...

Thanks, and I will.

More of a patch than a solution though. Should be abke to run at full beans on the battery. I'll try on the MSI forum.

Hi,

Our tests indicate the dedicated NVIDIA graphics has to be underclocked by a huge amount when on battery due to
power draw limits on batteries with most laptops.

This makes it basically useless for vMix unfortunately, so the only way to get semi decent performance while on battery is to switch
to the intel graphics instead.

Martin

I'll have to try this with mine, but I would assume that this is a Windows Power scheme adjustment for when on Battery. It may just need some tweaking.
