How can i record using crf in x264 without outputing the video to another programme?

Did you try using FFMPEG h264 (indexed) instead of MP4?
I had a client you absolutely needed CFR and CBR, I was obliged to use external out to my own recording script using FFMPEG, but recently I did try again with H.264 FFMPEG inside vMix and the file was accepted by this client's infrastructure...
