Did anyone else catch the live stream by World Of Live Streaming: 26 JUN 17, 8pm UK, 3pm ET {Back to our roots! vMix HowTo} Quick Starter? A guy on the show was demostrating a Live Closed Caption program on it if you didn't see it you need to take a look at the show. I'm especially interested if Martin Sinclair caught the show today. Martin, if you didn't watch the show please do. Let all of us know if this is something you can incorporate into vMix. Thanks

Really interesting George, thanks!

Please edit your link, as it is missing the colon (":"), and even better with a starting point at about 70 minutes in.

Will comment more tomorrow (we've been producing manual live captioning for a few years by now).

Will do richardgatarski. This time I will post the YouTube link. You'll need to copy it and past it in your browser.

Hi,

The guy on the show was Dave Edwards who found this piece of software and incorporated it via NDI in vMIx.

Kind regards,
Rudy

Where can we get this "Web Captioner" software? Is it available from Kurt Grimes?

My guess is that it is based on this.
https://www.google.com/i...chrome/demos/speech.html

Going to be looking at the Web Speech API in Chrome. Looks like it could be pretty interesting.

Correct, it's based on that. It uses Google Chrome's speech-to-text logic but makes the output a little prettier. It also attempts to workaround an annoying Chrome bug where recognition will mysteriously stop.

Web Captioner is available at https://webcaptioner.com and I post updates about it at https://facebook.com/webcaptioner. Feel free to message me through the Facebook page if you have questions about it -- that is the best way to reach me.

WebCaptioner,

How can I make the text in Live Caption smaller? Mine is too large.

Thanks again.

In the future I'm planning on adding some options for changing the styling on the page. In the meantime you can shrink the text using Ctrl and minus on the keyboard. If you have more questions/feedback about it feel free to message the Facebook page. Thanks!

WebCaptioner,

Using the minus + CTRL worked. Thanks again.

Thanks for this. Just in a few minutes of playing around I was able to do this.

I used NDI Transmit to send the audio output into Chrome, then NDI Scan Converter to send the browser screen back. Sorry for the propaganda video clip I used, but it even did a pretty good with the text when it was over music.

A while ago I made a demo of how to add live open captions to vMix using Text-on-Top. At that time it was in closed beta, but about a month ago the developer relased a new version and made it publically available. I will contact him to see if the live API could be implemented too.

@Webcaptioner, would it be difficult to implement language selection at webcaptioner.com?

ps the start time for the demo is 2h1m25 seconds into the YouTube video.

Does webcaptioner.com keep all of the text for an entire show (up to 4 hours)? I may not want to do live captioning, but I could keep it open and copy and paste the text into the YouTube CC for our podcasts.

Hi

I did not test for 4 hours but it's possible to copy and paste a session.

However I'm not sure it's easier to use than YouTube CC as it will oblige you to segment the whole text in thousands of parts.

To be honest, I haven't tried to use the YT CC option yet. My understanding is that when you go over about 3 hours or so it stops providing CC for you automatically. I was hoping that I could use something like this and copy and paste the text and just let YT figure it out. I will have to look into it. Maybe I will give it a shot tonight.

jvphobic Web Captioner keeps a lot of what you've said. Exactly how much of it I'm not certain.
