Hi All,

I've been racking my brain to figure out wehther this can be done. Basically, I want to be able to mix several mics in to my webstream but also output that audio mix to a PA system in the same room as the event.

Problem is, vMix seems to add too much delay for the audio to be any use when sent to a PA in the room as it would not sync up with the people actually speaking live.

I have a Behringer UMC1820 which has loads of in's and out's and when I use it with other audio programs, Ableton Live for exmaple, I can get really low latency. But not with vMix even though it's using the same drivers.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi

For live events with an audience, I much prefer to use an external audio mixer for this particular reason.

A nice option is to use Dante compatible systems so that the mix goes to PA with cables and at the same time, each audio channel can be used independently in vMix via ethernet.

Maybe you should try to use the Behringer on another computer than vMix, with ASIO drivers and plugged to the PA system and then use Dante to feed vMix via the network.
I think this should solve your problem.

Thanks Guillaume,

You're right, the best way is with an ecternal mixer and I probabyly do that if I can't get this to work which is looking likely.

However, I'm still hopinh it can be done with what I already have. I figured, since I'm mixing the mic for the strea anyway I could also mix for the PA as long as I could send it out with no delay.

Sure, using the audio interface on another machine would work. I just don't get why vMix has to add the delay. Even when I send the audio input only to Bus A for example and then route Bus A straight to an output.

vMix adds a delay to compensate the rendering time and keep A/V sync.
Besides there is always latency on digital audio unless you use optimized drivers like Asio (there's still few ms latency with ASIO btw).

Gotcha, I get why it adds delay when sending audio to it main output, I just thought I could also use one of the other busses sent to another output without the delay (I can live with the one or two ms delay that the ASIO produces) so I could use it locally as well.

Looks like I'm returning to audio device in exchange for somehting like this: http://www.juno.co.uk/pr...832-usb-mixer/584785-01/ and then sending the mix in to vMix via USB. Really wnated to it do it all with the APC 40, though.

Can't you send a mix to the PA via the 1820's main out ? then get a 2nd feed to vmix via the 1820's usb?

I don't own one personally but a quick Google search shows the 1820 to have a usb port.

Hi Mate,

I see what you're saying but it's basically a usb soundcard. I want to mix all audio coming in to it in vMix for the stream using the vMix audio mixer and then send that mix to the master for upload and to an output on the 1820 for local PA.

To do what you've sugested I'd have use the software that comes with it but then I wouldn't be able to use my midi controller which I use for all other vmix controls. I'd also have to have that software running alongside vMix which is far from ideal.

@ Clocksmith

Any way to use the 'Headphone' out from the 1820 and send that to the PA?

I think direct monitoring is only available when recording in a DAW thru Asio drivers.
This is an audio interface, not a real mixer with routing capacity.

Yeah, thanks Ice but DWAM is right.

I can get a direct zero lantecy montior from the heaphones but it just pipes anything coming in straight out again with out any of the level controls.

Was hoping to do it all from within vMix with the Midi controller but I guess I'll just have to hire in an external mixer whenever I need to feed the stream and a local PA.

Thanks all for your help.
