At first apologize, my English may be slightly broken :)

I have a problem with sound over ndi input.

Vmix 18 is installd on windwos 10. I added as a new NDI input a VLC media player (VlC is turned on on the same machine and has the NDI Tools plugin installed). Everything works fine for a few hours. After a few hours audio on the NDI VLC input disappears. I have to close that input and add it again, then everything goes back o narmal and fork fine but still only for a few hours and so over and over again.

I have to solve this, I need to broadcast 24/h

Any sugestions?

Hi and welcome to the vMix forum!

what is your source in VLC? A stream? Video playlist?
Are you sure you still have audio in VLC when it happens?

Did you try the same workflow with VLC on another PC?

As a workaround (not a definitive solution) you can write a script that checks audio level and automatically resets NDI input, something like:
if audio level = 0
ResetInput=x (where x is your ndi input number)

You can do this with 4K or Pro versions of vMix but also with vMixUTC if you don't have the good licence.

In VLC the source of playing materials is audio playlist. Does't need to play video

I think the audio in VLC still working good. Just reset the NDI input in vmix and everything returns to normal (VLC works in the background)

I will try to put the same system today on the other pc, or maybe try to change VLC to some other player.
We will see.

Why don't you use only vMix to play your audio files ? The List input accepts audio files and M3U playlists for example...

I don't know of another player with NDI support...

Did you try to simply use a virtual audio cable like VAC or VBAudioCable or Banana?

Did you try Dante Via?

NDI's main interest is for video. For audio only there are many other solutions...

I will honestly say that I have't heard anything about something like VAC etc.
Thank you very much for the hint. I will test it :)

Yesterday I had some time and I worked a bit.
I uninstaled the NDI tools, installed VB-Audio Virtual Cable, configured it and from yesterday until today it works perfectly :)

In my free time i will still think of the NDI why he lost the sound. Maybe for a weekend I'll install it on another machine and let you know if it works properly.

For now big thanks Guillaume :)
