in order to make a fail safe mp4 recording it is possible to set a recording interval, lets say 30 minutes. the resulting files have no gap and can be seamlessly connected for post production.

It is also possible to stop and restart a recording. but this will lead possibly to a small gap.

It would be very helpfull to have ( next to the start stop rec button) a stop/restart button to manually restart a recording and thus saving the prior file at a desired point.

this feature could be a combination of a timed save so if a feature is 30 minutes and you have set save evry to 15 minutes the item would have two seperate files.

files could be timestamped as the are now and or could have a series number preferably as a first entry ( I always number files by hand if I have time and put the series number as a first in the name because in post ( fcpx 10.3) the filename is very long and i just need to see the series number at the beginning.)
