I may have missed this as I cannot find any info....
Is there a way to change the "fade in/out" on the Live button?
Obviously I can set the time on the Overlay screen, but just thinking...of eliminating a step during fast cues.
Thanks

@ HWL

Not sure I understand...
AFAIK, the "LIVE" button is either ON or OFF, meaning the changes either happen as you make them or take effect once you hit "LIVE", it's not a "Fade" button.
Can you elaborate?

no, that was it. So its on or off.

Seems crude though, compared to the overlay button's fade. That is, if I'm in a live program with unprepared directors and they are giving me talent names on the fly, I prefer a fade to a cut. (so I go dark, change the name, turn off the overlay, go live, turn on the overlay, repeat...)

Why don't you simply use the Title Preset feature (with the + sign in Title Editor) ? It is so much easier...

its still an extra step, but it would work.
The ace clients (not) never give me the info until seconds before show time...and then change their minds, so its usually a lot of run-and-gun.

You should use datasource with an excel file or google sheet on another computer then. This way you don't have to manage this, you just let them do it!

Easiest way is to use WebController...

@ HWL

Such is life in "Live" productions...
Certainly, the best solution is in designing a workflow that easily accommodates such "last minute" adjustments.
This is an area where I really see the benefits of using a MIDI Controller or vMix UTC, they can easily be set-up to "fade" overlays ON and OFF in exactly this type of scenario.
If you are prepared for it, you can quickly pull it off without a hitch. Yes, it can be a pain having to go through several procedural steps to get there, but if you know they are coming, it starts to become second nature once you do it a few times and is executed as smooth as butter.

just to verify on the Import CSV...
the proper format is (column) 1 = name, 2 = location & name of xaml.png.

Otherwise, the xaml.png title does not appear after IMPORTING just names.

Correct?

PS - this still doesnt get me a fade in, just a cut.

There is no "proper" format (unless the separator character for CSV). It all depends on your XAML design.

The image in your xaml can be either hard-coded in the xaml file as a static background image. As the case may be there is no need to define it in the CSV

OR

it can be part of the CSV but I would do that only if this image has to be different for each speaker name

The easiest solution to get the good CSV is to use Title Editor with the + option for 2 entries and then export to CSV. Then you have the perfect template. After that you can add more values with a simple text editor.

I still don't understand what you're talking about regarding cuts or fades. The transition effect is not dependent on the xaml title but rather on the overlay settings. You can set overlays 1 to 4 to be what you want.

It is if the title itself has a fade animation or other embedded in it

My original request/issue, concerning changing the title names in real-time, was to use the Live key on and off, BUT have the name-text fade in and out (with the on/off).

Just trying to reduce keystrokes...even the added names are cuts, not fades, when selected.

Yeah this is exactly what I find confusing and as IceStream tried to explain already, this Live button is not meant to be used for what you try to do with it.

The easiest solution is to use one of the 4 Overlay buttons. Set one of them to fade.
When you want to show a lower-third use this overlay button, say number 1. Your title appears with a fade effect.
Click again it goes away

If you need to add a name, remove the title from output, add your name and close Title Editor window
Click overlay 1 again, your new name is shown with a fade transition

Maybe not what you would like to do, but there is no way the Live button will do what you want him to

Hope this helps
Guillaume

Now I get the bottom jest too ;

This live button (off) basically makes it possible to change the field data first before displaying it with turning it on , otherwise one will see the change letter per letter as it happens

As DWAM said turning the overlay off and back on after change is the way to go, mind you if it is an animated title this will also include that animation each time.

Other option is to design a title which responds with a fading when data changes coded within Making it then work with this live button prob will not be useful compared to sending data externally ( datasources , httprequest etc)
