I've been building some pretty complex shows, with multi-layered inputs, green screen composites, etc. I've been having trouble re-loading some of the later presets.

The "Capture" device for the AverMedia HD Capture card fail sporadically. This is an on-going problem even after rebuilding a show. Rebooting sometimes helps.

On a couple occasions, an XAML title failed to load.

And, I had a hard crash, at showtime, upon starting the local video recording. That has only happened once but vMix was already a bit unstable with the above issues.

I have the preset files, if that will be of some value.

Thoughts?

Hi Michael,

Unfortunately the AverMedia HD Capture card (not the gamer hd model) has broken drivers.
In testing I have been able to get it to crash in any program.

I would suggest replacing it with the Intensity Pro and your issues should be largely resolved.

Martin

Hello Martin,

Do other AVerMedia cards have the same issues? Which model numbers are affected? There's just so many slightly different cards, i get confused which one is which... In my recent tests i've had no problems with "AVerTV CaptureHD" (H727 - is this the card mentioned above?) - but of course my testing was more a "does it work at all" sort of test ;-)

The H727 is the one I have been testing here.
With the latest drivers simply opening and closing the card a few times in a program like MPC-HC or VLC is enough to get a blue screen.

I might have a faulty card, but it seems Michael's report might confirm an underlying issue.

Martin

I may have spoken too soon.
Just tried the drivers released a few weeks ago (1.52.64.27) and so far so good..

Thank you for the confirmation! I have two of these cards in some of our NLE machines (we are running a small multimedia lab at our school, where students learn video editing), i'm going to test them here as well, now that i know what to look for.

Interesting to know about broken drivers. I'm using two AverMedia C127 Game Broadcaster HD cards.

I'm using the latest-dated driver, 1.50.64.33.

Are these functional or broken?

As a followup:

This week, I built a show with both AverMedia Game Broadcaster HD cards as HDMI camera inputs and didn't have any troubles reloading the project. This is only anecdotal but, the problem seems to crop up when I add a bunch of .MP4 video inputs from files submitted by our fans. I suspect the mix of different codec settings, resolutions, and frame rates might be creating the problem with Capture inputs.

Just a thought from an anecdotal experience.

Otherwise, vMix is working great.

Best,

Michael
