Hi vMixers!
Microsoft released yesterday I think the next Windows 10 major update called "Creators Update". Automatic updates are scheduled as of the 11th of April.
Were some of you brave enough to experiment this update with vMix?
Guillaume

my teacher always said: "never touch a running system"
so all automatic updates are disabled in production systems

maybe for your hardware, i would not update unless you check with your motherboard manufacture website and forums. Microsoft did a horrible job last summer, logitech cameras were broke and not fixed for months.

I find that if I don't download and install the next upcoming win 10 update in the fast ring, that when they force it on me at the most in opportune time, it makes for an embarising situation, so yeah, I get the updates , and then disconnect after it's been proven to work on my setup.

Forced an update today on one of our laptops with Thunderbolt 2, and a Yuan SC542N4-HDMI. So far everything seems to work fine after a quick check with v18.0.0.65. Streamed and recorded for a couple of hours.
It shpuld be noted that the update takes about 15 minutes (not counting the download time). And it sort of starts wuth a blue installation screen, as if it was a completely new install. One has to select about ten options (allow positioning, error reporting to M$, etc). It also reverts back to "fast startup", which has been discussed in the Forum earlier (we turn it off). Possible to extend the "don't update time between hours, but still not possible to turn off updates completely.

Quote:It also reverts back to "fast startup" Nice, that will kill some hdd or ssd's data for someone. They should learn to respect users settings at Microsoft.

I installed a new laptop yesterday.
Although this machine has a 1050 GPU, vMix did not use it until I specified using that processor (instead of the onboard Intel processor) in the 3D section of the Nvidia utility. This is not unusual for a machine with two GPUs.
One of the things that gets reset to default may be easily overlooked is that after the creator update, it sets the nVidia back to its default of using the Intel processor, so you need to use the utility to set it back to the nVidia processor.

I noticed that nVidia has issued new driver/s "for Creators update". Installed it after I did the Creators update, so I am not sure if the nVidia graphics settings (ie to use nVidia for vMix) is not changed by Windows' update. Another topic also notes that the recording folder cannot be changed after the Windows Creator update.
