I am pulling my hair out here. I have an Alienware 17R4 (Win10) that came with a GTX1070 and when I choose it (Settings > Performance > Graphics Adapter) I get 0 lag but nothing but a blank screen as I try to capture a Zoom guest on the same machine or 2nd mach. I can capture vMix desktop elements, but nothing else.

I have to throttle back to the Intel HD Graphics 530 and it works, but my IP PTZOptics cams lag about 400ms and start freezing about every 10sec or so for a second or two (read: unusable).

What in heavens name might be the trouble?

Well, after much research and testing I finally answered my own question.

The solution was to simply force the 17R4 to use the 1070. It comes out of the box set up for switching, to save power apparently, and since this laptop will be on AC for every recording, forcing it makes sense.

It's actually a keystroke (FN + F7) and re-boot away. Owners/gamers take note.

Cheers!
